Hasek is coming back to Detroit. Why?
Why didn't they just resign Legace? Grr. Hasek is just going to get hurt and end up on the DL all year ... again.

Yeah, I was just talking to a guy at work about that.
Didn't Hasek's original signing provide the impetus for getting rid of Osgood? And now Osgood is ostensibly backing up Hasek, though I guarantee Osgood plays more games this year.
Hopefully there's a young guy somewhere in the program that will end up being a standout, cause Hasek will be injured most of this season.

I don't see anything in any story at TSN that says that he was a trade from Ottawa.
Was he on Free Agency or something?

He's been signing one year contracts for a while now.

I don't know why a team would drop a goalie with close to a 2.00 GAA. It doesn't make sense. Legace is an NHL hall of fame goalie.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/ has this story as their main one.

Yeah, it's just stupid that they are making him take the fallout for the playoff failure last year. Sure he wasn't great, but it was his first time starting as a playoff goalie. I think he did pretty well, all things considered. That and the fact that he had an excellent regular season should have been all the reason they needed to bring him back.

TSN's added to the story quite a bit since this morning, added a lot of details.
If the Wings can manage that groin injury well and keep him in shape for the playoffs, then it should pay off big-time for them.
If not, well you might have a repeat of what happened to Ottawa last year.

Lets be honest: Detroit's front office has been mind-fucked about goaltending for a while, or they never would have brought Hasek in the first time. I think it reflects that no matter how well Legace played, someone up there doesn't have any faith in him for some reason.
I felt for Wing fans when Stevie Y called it a career.
I felt for Wing fans when Shannie signed with those asshole Rangers.
At this point, all I can do is shake my head.
