It's Your Turn

I just heard about It's Your Turn today, apparently a pretty old and popular site, but I thought I'd pass it along. Turn-based Chess, Backgammon, Go, Checkers, Battleship, Connect 4, etc... Ladders for ranking, you can set games up to have turns last as long as 30 days.

Sounds like it might be worthwhile, though I haven't actually played any games yet. Take a look if you like.

I hate playing chess online. I imagine the bastard on the other end is running Chessmaster 10,000,000 in the background and just destroying me at every opportunity because they've been putting my moves vs. the computer, who is on the ULTRA STOOPID DOPE GAMEMASTER setting. I may not be great at chess, but there's no way I suck that bad.

Those fuckers cheat, I swear.

Go is a game that can really hook you once you learn the rules and basics of the game. It is very flexible so that newcomers can play games w/ smaller board sizes for initial learning as well as having a very accurate handicap system once you are playing on a regulation size 19x19 board. I have no idea what the competition is like on this site as it's blocked from work but the game itself is inherently far more difficult to cheat at. Computers really can't power search through strongest moves for this game so unless you have a decent player sitting over your shoulder, the game most likely on the level.

I usually play on a server called IGS run through South Korea I believe and they are sticklers for people who cheat and/or escape their games. They also run professional matches online. The client I use(and seems to be most popular for general use) is from Panda Egg.
