Windows 2003 server rolling back a folder?

Have a new client.. old Tech Support setup their servers, and of course they have multiple vendors for software.

One of the vendors asked us to run a software update, which was done, and was apparently successful.

A day later, the folder the application is in appears to have rolled back to prior to the update..

I can't find anything automated that would be doing this; though I'm not too familiar with the Acronis True Image backup system, it has it's own scheduler to create backups, but I don't see anything to automatically restore stuff.

There's no shadow copy enabled on the drive at all, so doesn't seem to be related to that.

Anyone seen anything like this that wasn't someone with admin priviledges messing with the system? (multiple staff insist on having the admin password, and I can't take it away from everyone for political reasons).

I don't know about 2003 but you may want to see if it has the System Restore ability like XP. And that it's turned on. That lets you restore back to previous saves. To see if it's on do a properties on My Computer and select the System Restore tab.

Not sure how to run the System Restore Wiard directly though. I do it through the windows help system.

System restore is more about drivers and registry, it's not a substitue for shadow copies/backups, and I don't actually *want* to roll back, it's doing it by itself (as far as I know).

Thanks though.

Nothing to see here; wasn't Windows 2003 itself doing this, but rather some mirroring software on a different server in the network that was, of course, undocumented.
