Lets wait until these East coast teams face the WEST before declaring them champs! How'd they do last year?

They almost destroyed the Spurs in the Finals...

Almost? Is that a nice way of saying that they lost?
With that logic...The Suns beat Detroit in the regular season in 2005....they ALMOST beat them this year...so Phoenix should win it all!

I think the "almost" was more in reference to a series-saving 3 pointer by Robert Horry in overtime of game 5, in Detroit, to not go down 3-2 in the series. Had he not hit that shot, Detroit would have been up 3-2 and a win in game 6 (which they did) would have won the series. So yeah, almost is pretty fitting.
You can say the Suns almost won something when they make it to the NBA Finals and win it (like the Pistons did 2 years ago) or just miss winning it when the other team hits a 3 pointer with 5.8 seconds left in OT (like they did last year, the year after they won it. We call that "back-to-back finals appearances").

My only point is that there are degrees of winning and losing. Certainly the Spurs won the championship last year. But it wasn't a Lakers over 76ers in the NBA Finals win, or a Detroit over Lakers in an NBA Finals win. It was a Suns over Lakers in first round of the playoffs win, or Spurs over Pistons in the finals win. It was a win in the same way that it was almost a loss...

The Titanic ALMOST didn't sink! I don't hear too many people talking about how they almost missed that iceberg these days.
Talking about almosts and ifs...if the Suns beat the Spurs in the WCF, if Joe Johnson hadn't done a faceplant, we'd be talking about how Detroit almost beat the Suns!
I also like how everyone says the playoffs are different so the Suns losing to Detroit twice this year (although they ALMOST won both of those games with Phoenix leading both games until the final minute) means nothing as the playoffs are different!
The only thing we can be sure of is that Nash won back to back MVP awards and that Kelshara never met a front-runner he didn't like.

Eh? I rarely like front-runners. Pulling stuff out of your ass again?

What is a front-runner?

That's such a bad analogy. The better one would be another ship that had
grazed an iceberg and sunk or didn't sink. In the case that it had, that'd be more like the pistons last year. An inch to the left (Horry's shot) and they'd still be afloat (back-to-back world champions).
The Titanic had its ass torn out, kind of like the Pistons did to the Lakers two years ago. Or did you miss the part of the movie where they talked about like 15 hulls being breached?

I believe it's because of what the Pistons did to the Lakers two years ago. There was almost no one outside of Michigan picking the Pistons to beat the all-star-cast the Lakers were fronting.
It's sad... It really makes me emotionally sad that with all the points the Suns put up, they have yet to prove that their brand of basketball works in the post-season.

Coach D'Antoni doesn't get enough credit. His strategy of losing every game two of the playoffs to refocus his players is brilliant. BRILLIANT!
I hope Phoenix wins one of the two games in LA this time. My nervis get huge when a three game come-back is needed.

The Suns won't even get to play the Pistons.
But I never made that bet, Stragi is lying. Just about the bet though, I don't doubt that he hasn't washed it in a month.
