That game official really screwed up that review of the tying goal in the third period. Comletely reversed the momentum of the game at that point.

I think the fact that it was ruled a goal was legit, but the non-call on the high sticking of the puck was questionable.

Regardless, there's no way Detroit should have allowed 4 goals in the third period. The penalty Williams took for a late crosscheck (or three) was fucking stupid, and that was where things started to go wrong.

Were you guys watching US network coverage or the CBC coverage?

The CBC tends to have a lot more cameras and angles to show and their producers are second to none. The replays that I saw did not show any player make a kicking action that directed the puck into the net.

As for the 'high stick' making contact, the replays I saw showed that Horcoff's stick might have been a few inches above the crossbar but that's irrelevant as the puck hit a Detroit player before Hemsky touched it. Similar to a glove pass, refs won't blow it dead if the puck is first touched by an opposing player.

I doubt anyone in the Red Wings organization will blame their failure on the officiating.
They simply had a bad series.

It wasn't even that the Wings were THAT bad (excluding third period of game 6) -- it's that the Oilers (Roloson especially) played outstanding. Hats off to them.

The puck absolutely did not hit any Detroit players after the high stick and before an Oiler touched it. I saw it on fox sports Detroit from 17 angles for 15 minutes. Mickey Redmond even had the telestrator out. 'Twas a moot point anyhoo as high stick puck -> teammate isn't a reviewable call.

I'm not sure what other people got to see re: the alleged kicked puck, but that was very near borderline. There was quite clearly a "kicking action" with his left foot, and the puck magically jumped out of Legace's hand without being hit by a stick, though I did not actually see the foot come in contact with the puck.

I'm not trying to say the Oilers didn't deserve that victory, they totally outplayed the Red Wings and deserve to advance. I just would have been happier with that call reversed!

On CBC, they said your stick can be over the crossbar as long as its below your shoulders and it was.

As for the refs, they have been pretty much horrible in every other game. I've counted 5 high sticks in 3 different series and 7 hitting from behind in 4 series that havent been called.
