High end monitor info needed

Ok guys I need some help sorting through the 11 billion monitors out there.
Price isnt much of a concern. Absolute minimum I'll go with is 19in LCD.
Looking for the best gaming performance out there.
I'm not at all well versed with LCD's as I'm currently running on a 17in Sony flatscreen CRT and its time to upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

DUDE! Get a Dell.
Couldnt be happier with mine, though the specs of the new FPW20007 seem less than impressive. I have a FPW2005 and it rocks..
Winnow has a FPW2405 and it rocks.
Someone here just bought a FPW3007 and it rocks.
Rocks are good for you.

Hey Hacker, Johanny just got me a 2405 for Valentine's day and I'll attest to it rocking too! I don't know what PC you're running but if you go with 24" and up I think playing at those resolutions will cripple a lot of systems out there with the newer games.

This thread has the original info on the 2405FPW I posted:

As long as you can afford it, you can't really go wrong buying one of them.

So the 16ms time on it isnt noticeable/detrimental for games?
I'm not scared of the price but I'm not interested in ghosting in games either.
What do you guys think of this one?

...nevermind.
Just read the full thread.
Only one more question.
Where's the current cheapest place to order?
I'm jumping on the 2405FPW bandwagon.

I'm guessing the cheapest place is from Dell! Don't think I've seen anyone else sell their monitors.
(But haven't really looked, either)

I just try to keep an eye on some of the "coupon/discount" sites like the one linked above and

Yea, with a 2405 I woulda needed to upgrade my video card, as Im running the 2005 on a 9700 with a Athalon 2600+...
Tell Johanny I said hi

When we gonna get together and go drinking? I might be doing this shamrock fest tommorow (its two blocks from my house)

I'll second Boog's recommendation to check the coupon sites. When I got mine I got something on the order of 30% off list price if I remember correctly due to a coupon.

Nice!
I'm pretty sure I was the first to get a 2405FPW here (beat Aslanna by a day!) and it hasn't missed a beat. It rocks. I leave it on 27/4 (with black screen saver after a few hours)

Ok so I'm pretty well screwed. I got here and setup my stuff and most importantly made sure I had the room for the FP2405.
Called up to place my order and Dell told me to GTFO. Called up the Dell International and even the Dell US Military division and all said the same. Dell wont ship anything to me unless its a laptop or a full out system.
Any other options for? What are the thoughts on the Samsungs?

Dell uses Samsung panels in their 2405 so if you get a new Samsung, you're getting the same guts, just paying a little more for it.

Hi
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824009061
edit: i should probably mention that the hardware is samsung on this as well but it simply clocks in with a better time. if you are bent on samsung this might matter to you.
edit edit: i should also mention that most people have complained about the non-adjustable stand for this monitor. You can buy a wall mount or a replacement

Well NewEgg...actually noone will ship anything over a 19 inch to APO/FPO. Closest I've found is about $2000 downtown for a Samsung 24inch.
Fuck it.

A quick trip to Singapore should get you whatever you want for about half the price you're willing to pay for it
The brother of an Ex actually picked up a console that played games for every other console and handheld out at the time for 50 bucks there

Here's what the native res of the 24" 2405 Dell 1920X1200 1:1 looks like when displayed on the new 30" 3007 Dell monitor: (native res = 2560x1600)

If you're thinking about getting a 24" Dell, it looks like the 2407 may not be as well made as the 2405's were:

Dell goes bandy over 24-inchers
By Paul Hales in Luton: Monday 15 May 2006, 21:12
DELL IS FACING the wrath of disgruntled customers complaining about what they perceive as banding on some of its 24-inch screens.
Examples of the direct-seller's new range of 2407 screen have reared their heads in places as far and wide as as Japan and Poland, though rarely inbetween.
Some of those in Japan were branded as bandy, as we wrote here
Now a reader writes of complain of banding on his Austalian Dell 2407wfp.
He said: "There is a ton of banding with a DVI connection, but virtualy none with VGA."
"A perfect black to white linear gradient looks like it is in 16-bit colour."
Users with 2007fp and 2007wfp screens have reported similar banding, which seems to relate to the DVI circuitry.
Dell is investigating, but denies any reported problems.
Besides the "annoying" banding the monitor is perfect, with "n'ary a dead pixel," our user reports. ยต

So I went down to "Jonny Computer" (yup thats the real name) and the dude there spoke passable enough English so I had a chat with him about the monitors. Apparently SKorea does not allow some things for import.
Long story short Samsung / LG are the only 2 monitors you can buy in this country and b/c of that they can charge anything they want.
Want a cool Samsung 244T? $2700 (with current exchange rate)
Fuckers.
No company from NewEgg, Tigerdirect, Dell or anywhere else will ship anything larger than a 19 inch over here so I just snagged up a 19 in Sony LCD (from the BX).
Guess I'll make that my wifes computer when I go home.

Would they allow you to have it if it were shipped to a family member in the US who then sent it to you in Korea? I seem to remember a couple friends that did that with stuff they couldn't have sent directly from a company to them in Indonesia.

Yeah I could have but I didnt really have the time and paying the extra $150 was a bit irritating to me. My 17in Sony CRT wouldnt fit on the small desk in my dorm room and my wife is away visiting family so waiting 2 months to get my PC up and running was just too much.
Fuck it, I'll set up her PC with the 19in LCD when I get back and snag the Dell or Acer when I get back.
Besides I'm broke for now, those bastards that shipped my nice new smoking hot PC (Including Geforce 7800) destroyed my PC. Think what happens when you stomp on an empty Coke can. They jacked it so hard when the CPU heatsink bent it ripped the CPU out of socket, and bent my vid card so bad you cant even plug in a DVI cable. I have a claim in but that'll take a while so I just replaced everything and took in the receipts this week.

$1600 to replace everything and get all my stuff up to date.
Vonage setup here was $140 for starters
DSL here = $100 setup and $55 a month
The only things that survived...some how my CPU actually still works fine and the 1GB memory stick I had installed...was knocked out of socket and wedged up between my P/S and case wall still works.
Hell even my router was dead.
What really pissed me off though, I'm a big hold em player. My wife got me for Christmas a 500 set of 13 gram clays from Aces/Kings with a solid oak case.
The case is now barely even firewood.
