Still a developing story, but still... damn. Looks like Bush was (at least in part) possibly right about North Korea.

what was he right about?

I think he was referring to this quote from that article:
North Korea has been described by President George W Bush as being part of an "axis of evil"
I can so hear Geroge W doing a Dr. Evil laugh while saying that.

He was correct to assume that North Korea was doing something they shouldn't be, hence lumping them in with the 'axis of evil'.
Like I said though, this is still developing and we might not know all the details yet. But I'd say North Korea shipping long range missiles to Yemen is pretty indicitive of underhanded dealings.

hmm, I haven't seen any evidence of involvement from the PRK government. It certainly wasn't korean technology or a PRK navy vessel that was stopped. I just assumed it was arms dealers since hardline communists get along with fundie muslims about as well as alley cats get along with stray dogs.
If you mean that everyone in north korea is evil then yeah maybe Bush was right.

"Pentagon officials said the Spanish warships had full legal rights to stop the ship because it was not flying a flag and its official markings were covered by paint. "It appeared as a lawless, stateless vessel," one official said." - Source, NYT
The ship has to be registered to some nation, although it doesn't sound like it has been confirmed that it belongs to North Korea.

Everyone in North Korea isn't evil any more than everyone in Canada rides around on horses like the mounties.
Cmon, I'm not that ignorant. I just meant that at the time it appeared that North Korea might be involved in the activities that Bush had said they were, that is all. I hope it turns out to be not true, for the sake of everyone.
And no, Lali, still a Wings fan. ;D Although it looks this year like it might be the Stars and Wings in the Western Conference Finals... unless the Avs get a lot better.

Yemen admits they bought the missiles.
the missile transaction was not in violation of international law according to CNN. the authenticity of the ship's paperwork is another matter though...
governments don't need the consent of the United States to buy and sell most military equipment, under normal circumstances (ie. not under UN embargo, etc).
speculation is that Yemen was not the final destination point for the missiles, as it is unlikely a government like that would buy those missiles, but that is speculation by talking heads at this point.

That's entirely correct, only the mounties get horses, everyone else rides a moose.
Unflagged vessels in international waters are a major no-no. While it's true that PRK can sell weapons to anyone they want, they aren't going to be shipped to a
legitimate customer on an unflagged/anonymous vessel.

The ship was Cambodian.

Hrmm, not only unmarked, but all registry markings painted over?
That's a bit suspicious. If I were North Korea, I think I would be pegging an arms dealer for that right quick. Otherwise they come off looking pretty bad.

I'm not calling anyone ignorant; I'm just saying that it probably isn't the government selling those missiles. North Korea would have nothing to hide if they wanted to ship rockets to Yemen, but the odds of the PRK gub'ment making a deal with a hardline muslim government isn't all that high.
