I work well worked at the YMCA after school program.

I let one of the little girls braid my hair while i was helping another with homework and letting them braid touch my hair just out of the blue became against the rules of the Y. I also had one of my co-workers cell phone out which has a camera on it. one of the little girls asked me to take their picture while she made a stupid face so thinking nothing of it i took their picture with her phone. this is also an out of the blue no-no.

so yeah. any suggestions where a 19 year old looking for a career in business should try and find a job? I don't want to bag peoples groceries or wait tables. I'm thinking of an internship type thing with pay.

Tip - When dealing with other people's kids(especially girls), NEVER EVER have any more physical contact than is absolutly necessary and also never take their picture of them unless it's with their camera.

Didn't it dawn on you that having a young girl braid your hair might not be the brightest idea in the world?

This was my thought as well.

If they aren't your kids don't even take a chance that something will be seen as inappropriate.

Another plus about college: it's filled with girls your own age, and contact is encouraged!

Give him a break.

At 19 I was more then a little naive about the world in general.

I thought I was giving him a break by phrasing it that was.
This is VV afterall.

Let this be a learning experience for him. Companies will cover their butts a lot faster than they will cover their employees.

Clatis - Don't list the Y as a reference on your resume.

I'm your age and can tell you college is the best option! Why on earth are you 19 and not even in a community college? You will not have a financially happy life without education.

Plus... tits dude. Tits and asses. 24,000 of them at MSU. College chicks are a different breed of horny.

I'll agree and say go to college. Get an education so you can get a good job, and fuck lots of hot, horny, drunk girls in the process (or some sober ones maybe, but thats not as fun).

Go retail for a bit if you have to. It will give you a little bit of a better idea what other companies down the road will be looking for. Don't expect to jump into a "corporate" job without some experience or an education beyond high school or even an associate's degree in some cases. Retail can get you some management and customer service experience to help build up the resume, and the perks can be nice depending on where you get a job. Some of the entry-level jobs in retail can really suck, but learning how to do those well and watching/asking for opportunities to get a broader range of experience can help you get past the lower level positions.

Go to college or join the military, either one will give you a decent start.

You current route doesn't have all that great a chance of ever getting anyplace.

yes go to college. be serious about it and focus on schoolin' that will actually mean shit on your resume. man up and spend a few years of your life ensuring that you will be able to take care of yourself in the future. military as a last resort. they give you a decent start and teach you how to drink but you gotta work like a dog for it.

take it from someone who dropped out of high school and spent 3 years bussing tables and living at home before getting a lucky break. dont put your livelihood in the hands of luck or the good nature of employers, you wont find much of either

I'm in college. I had to go to community college this year cuz i got mono last year and got a 2.1 had the option to go back or get a new car + community college and go to a much better school next year so i've been in CC this year.

I'm going to talk to my head boss tomorrow about it all because the situation is my site supervisor's day is like this: 1) come to work 2) sit in office for 2+ hours and do nothing 3) talk to one or two parents 4) when her son gets in she helps him with his homework 5) leaves.

Her job is to see what I'm doing right and wrong and correct the things I'm doing wrong before they become a problem in which parents complain about.

That's going to sound like sour grapes honestly. I would approach it from the no prior warning angle assuming that is the case.

Failing that retail experience always helps a resume though most positions are ass. And continue the education.

I got two points here:

1. As a junior high football coach, I am well aware of the need to look proper in EVERY circumstance. I had one of my players come and mow my lawn after practice with his mother's permission. His dad showed up about 30 minutes later screaming at me wondering where his boy was. I must say it was one of the scariest days in my life. I wasn't afraid of the guy, I was afraid of being even remotely linked to some impropriety with a kid. I was able to calm the guy down and we cleared everything up but I was pretty sure I would never be coaching again. The point is to never mess with someone else's kids in ANY way no matter what. PERIOD

2. As for the college thing, sell the car and get an old beater. You are sacrificing your future for a car that you probably barely use. I had an old 78 T-Bird in college. I drove it once or twice a month max. You will not go anywhere in this world without a college degree. Sure you might get some factory job but trust me, you can't live on $10-15 an hour. When I graduated in 1997, it was easy for anyone that knew the difference between a keyboard and a mouse to get a tech job and earn good money. Those days are gone, long gone. Cut your expenses and go to college. I did college while in the National Guard and an occasional stint at McDonalds to get through summers. Other than that I was lazy as hell and loved all 5 years of my college experience.

Or auto mechanic if you you've ever had an interest in that sort of thing. Otherwise, I'd avoid the military thing like the plague unless you're a ROTC candidate in this day and age.

First - Get a haircut

Second - Accept the consequences and move on

Third - pretend you never worked there, as in previous posts do not list this on your resume.

Fourth - Stop trying to make the world a better place. It is fucked and it is too late.

I'm not gonna join the military, I'm in college, just community college until next year which im going to Ohio state (hopefully) or NC state or appalachain state.

The jobs not that big of a deal. It just fit my schedule perfectly, made 7 50 an hour and could use the Y whenever I wanted to.

I don't really care anymore so it's cool ~

and no i don't touch kids. But I loved the Jack Black School of Rock quote

Oh, and I went in today to talk to my Boss and the head boss of a lot of the branches of the YMCA in NC and TN. And he wants me back for re-employment over the summer... which I'm pondering

and this here is the reason America isn't a place i'd wanna live in.

pucker your assholes ladies and gents, every man in the world is a sexual predator, you might be their next victim !!!

having a grown up discussion about what is to be done to try and prevent child abuse is the idea.

getting fanatical about stupid "i just wanna safe my ass from getting sued", methods is pointless and doesn't prevent a damn thing when it comes to children beeing abused.

I agree with Nick. If you think that every man in the world that does more than say hello or goodbye to your daughter is a pedophile, then hold her up in the house, get a straight female home schooler, and don't let her out of your sight, EVER.

No but instead how about you falsely accuse someone of being a pedophile (which can really fuck someones life up), because you are an over protective fucking moron. People that falsely accuse someone of something like this with absolutely no basis, should have to serve time in prison, sharing a cell with a violent sexual offender.

It's not a matter of if he is a predator or not. Frankly I would I have no problem with my daughter braiding the hair of someone I knew. But I am sure the YMCA just doesnt want the liability of the situation if a parent decides to go apeshit.

Yeah exactly, the people that are making companies have to act that way should not be allowed to breed, I don't care if its 80% of the worlds population.
