I really feel this will be a blow out. With ESPN tring to make this USC team the greatest since the birth control pill, and force this team on us 24 hours a day. If USC wins, I still dont think they are a great team, just a good one.I think Ohio could beat them right now EASY.

Ok, I do not care who wins now, we have had several great games in a row with the WVU-Georgia game, the game lst night and now this.

Damn what an ending...
good game
and the announcer Keith Richards (think that's his last name) needs to retire already. He couldn't even get the score right when it was 7 - 3.

Amazing game and I am sure SC fans will point to a phantom touchdown and the obvious blown fumble call as the reason they lost, but the bottom line is if they get 2 yards on 4 and 2 they win the game.
Gratz Texas, I honestly did not think you had a shot and I will eat a healthy meal of crow tonight.

Incredible game. I was glad I got to watch it. Had to Tivo the first half and a few mins of the 3rd quarter, so I'm going to watch that now hehe.

This years match ups definitely made for some good games. Not all of the teams I wanted to win did, but the one that really counted pulled it off. I was pulling for PSU, WVU, Texas Tech (only because I grew up in Lubbock), Kansas, and a few others. I thought the Orange Bowl wouldn't be over until Joe Pa turned 80, and I was amazed by Slayton's speed in the Sugar Bowl. Bama's defense vs Texas Tech's offense was classic for a Cotton Bowl game.
The only thing that pisses me off is that the College season is over. I have mentioned it before, but it's my favorite "season" of the year.

Keith Jackson is his name and yes, he's about a decade past due for retirement.
Great game. Vince Young looks like the real McCoy. He has the arm and the legs.
Texas deserved the win.

LenDale White was the one USC player that scared me early in the season. He showed why tonight.

Feh, from not knowing Keith Jackson's name to saying he should have retired 10 years ago, you heathens make me sick! A pox on all of your houses.
Keith Jackson is the greatest football announcer college football has ever had, and while he did make some pretty big mistakes tonight, I'll be sad when he's not calling games anymore.

I know who Keith Jackson is, and he should have retired 15 years ago. He's almost as bad as fucking Mussberger.

Bah - I'd rather listen to Keith Jackson with the mistakes than 99% of the retards in the business atm. I'll be really saddened when he retires - some of my favorite football memories were games called by Jackson.

Keith Jackson really doesn't say much anymore. He misses calls left and right.
I'll stick with the same stance I have with pro athletes. Retire before you start making yourself look bad. I listened to what Keith Jackson was actually saying during the game. He doesn't add anything but nostalgia to a game at this point.
He's great for telling us how nice the sunset is or how bad traffic was getting to the stadium though and how he's sick of the hype leading up to the game. He did a ton of Pac Ten and Big Ten games. I still like him as an announcer but do appreciate useful commentary during a football game so he's got to go.

That was really an amazing game both teams gave it their all. Really the 4th down call I thought was more of the fact that their offense was what got them there in the first place and you dance with the one that brought you. You can second guess it all you want, but with Vince as hot as he was the last thing you wanted was to have him with the ball no matter the field position.
I'm really happy for Mack and I wish I was in Austin tonight if only to see the tower lit up with the number one.

There have been plenty of complaints made to ABC around here about him. Rumor was that he had actually been moved from calling a Texas - Oklahoma game recently because of it. I am sorry if you memorize all of the commentator's full names when they call each other by their first names during the game. I know that he has been around for friggin' ever, which is one reason I also think he showed it was time for him to move on. I posted that when I was still a bit "pumped" after the game.
You had to wonder how much longer he would last when he started commenting on the sunset and how there was the orange of Texas.....and...and...all of the colors of USC. He couldn't remember the damn team colors! Then he seemed to have dozed off for the Texas FG and called the score at 7 - 0 when USC was back around the Texas 20 already.

You still have a little time! They won't add the "1" to the tower until the team returns

I gotta pile on here.
I have been following Texas football since I was 9 years old. In 1983, I remember watching the Cotton Bowl with my family when we lost.
Going through the Mackovic years, I never thought I would see us return to glory. I must admit, Mack Brown & Greg Davis had me furious at them a few times since he has been here, but he finally broke through. Of course, a lot of it just had to do with getting VY to come to Texas.
I never thought that I would see us win a championship. What a game, glad I got on the DVR and I know I'll be watching it again many more times.

I just thought I would add this just in-case Crav wanted to make a trip to the tower. You'll have a few days since it will apparently be lit burnt orange with the 1 through the weekend.

Here's a good quote that I feel sums up listening to a Keith Jackson game:
Since I firmly believe Marv Albert should do every big NBA game, Pat Summerall every big NFL game and Keith Jackson every big college football game, no matter how old they are, and only because it feels like a bigger game when any of them is involved, I feel totally comfortable saying this: Listening to Jackson is like driving with my mother at night. In other words, maybe he can't really see anymore, and he might drive over a few curbs, and maybe he'll even send a pedestrian diving behind a parking meter ... but it's always exciting, and you always get home safely in the end.
*edit* bah fixed name...sent while doing a couple projects at work and had richards stuck in my head

Keith Jackson sees the light at the end of the tunnel
Is Keith Jackson ready to call it quits - but this time for good?
It seems like he may be leaning that way, as he was waxing poetic with reporters about his future this week.
"I can see the end of the road," Jackson said. "This might be my last year. It's nice to hear people tell me they want me to keep doing this. It's better than hearing, 'Hey, you old goat! Why don't you retire?'"
Keith Jackson may be calling his final college football game for ABC's telecast of the Rose Bowl game between Texas and Southern California Wednesday night, the New York Times reported today (Tuesday). In an interview with the newspaper, Jackson, 77, said, "I'm pretty sure I'm going to walk, but I don't know for sure." ESPN Executive Vice President Norby Williamson told the newspaper that ABC Sports/ESPN want to re-sign Jackson, whose contract expires in May. "We want him back," Williamson said. "Keith is the greatest college football announcer ever, and we will always have a place for him here. There's no one like him. It's up to Keith." Jackson, noting that "ABC Sports is dying" and that sports telecasts are being assigned to sibling ESPN, remarked, "This is a whole new generational approach to doing things, a philosophy with which I'm not familiar." Separately, Jackson told Newsday that he's considering a new career. "I'd say there is a very good possibility of becoming a shop steward for the International Porchsetters Union."
