DVD drive refuses to shut

anybody see anything like this before?

Pioneer DVR-109 drive. just won't stay shut. It is independent of operating system, for instance if i boot to the BIOS, and try to shut it, it won't.

Shit, I recommended that drive.

Mine works great! Probably some little plastic part broke off.

or...the eject button is stuck. Fiddle with the eject button a bit. Did you press it with peanut butter on your hands or some other unspeakable gooey substance?

If it's refusing to shut, tell the drive, and its agent Drew Rosenhaus to get out of your city!

i fixed it.

i had an electrical storm turn the power off at our house for 10 minutes.

upon the drive realizing i wielded such mastery over nature, it retreated from its standoff.
