Best song associated with its impact within a movie

The focus is on the song's emotional impact within the movie itself. I'm not talking about sad songs but you can throw those in if you want. The lyrics aren't even important. I'll start!

Song: Lunatic Fringe - Red Rider
Movie: Vision Quest

Situation: Music plays as Louden warms up by himself before entering the main auditorium for the big wrestling match.

by Fairweather Pure
Movie: Donnie Darko

Song: Mad World

I wouldn't really say this is sad, but it was definately melancholy. It served as a point of reflection in the film as the camera rolled past the characters in thier various daily lives after Donnie has died.

Movie: Apocalypse Now

Song: Doors - The End

Man, when this song fires up at the start of the movie just as the napalm strike lands amoung a line of trees, it still sends chills up my spine. It sets the tone for the entire movie. The song continues to play as we watch an extremely disturbed Martian Sheen binge drinking in a Vietnamese hotel reliving some terrible memory of the war.

Movie: Trainspotting
Song: Lust for Life - Iggy Pop

this was the first time i'd ever heard the song, and it was such an anticipated movie for me, that watching the opening credits with the guys running about town with this song in the background has forever stuck in my head.

Movie: Closer
Song: The Blower's Daughter - Damien Rice

this was the best part of the film, imo. it's used at the beginning and the end, when natalie portman is walking through a crowd.

Movie: Zoolander
Song: Relax - Frankie Goes to Hollywood

enough said.

Transormers the Movie
Stan Bush - The Touch (think thats right).

You got the touch
You got the power

After all is said and done
You've never walked, you've never run,
You're a winner

You got the moves, you know the streets
Break the rules, take the heat
You're nobody's fool

You're at your best when when the goin' gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You got the touch
You got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You got the heart
You got the motion

You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

You never bend, you never break
You seem to know just what it takes
You're a fighter

It's in the blood, it's in the will
It's in the mighty hands of steel
When you're standin' your ground

And you never get hit when your back's to the wall
Gonna fight to the end and you're takin' it all

You got the touch
You got the power

When all hell's breakin' loose
You'll be riding the eye of the storm

You got the heart
You got the motion

You know that when things get too tough
You got the touch

You're fightin' fire with fire
You know you got the touch

You're at your best when when the road gets rough
You've been put to the test, but it's never enough

You got the touch
You got the power

You got the touch
You got the power

Awwwwwww yeah.

Ok this is partially inspired by the transformers movie thread in General. But still.

i'm not great with my icelandic, but whichever sigur ros song is playing in vanilla sky when he's on the roof adds to the moment so much.

Danish movie called Vildspor (Means something like sidetracked or lost)

Song: Big sky above me (or whatever its called)

Plays at the very end, as ossy is fleeing again in a plane, he has been fleeing most of his life and now he is doing it again. It conveys the total feeling of failure he has, and the way he has been sinking deeper and deeper into the shit

Not sure exactly why this sticks in my mind: the entire scene in Donny Darko when they swing open the back of the bus, and go into the school hallway introducing some characters while Tears for Fears is playing.

Probably the best original score of any movie Ihave ever seen. Disturbing and unsettling.

You don't make the rules!

While I agree that the longer away from a movie's release the less need there is for spoiler tags, it's still good form to put something like the death of the title character in spoiler tags.

The Silence of the Lambs
[Show]
The score playing while Hannibal kills the two officers guarding his cell.
Watching him wave his hands in the air to the music with a mouthfull of blood is still one of my favorite scenes.

When I think about the entire run of that movie, that scene is probably my favortie/most memorable. I think that's when the movie really hooked me during my first viewing and that's why it has stuck with me.

I guess in an audio forum with the title "Best song associated with its impact within a movie" it would be a stretch to think there may be some discription of whats going on when the song is played.

I forgot this little gem:

"Stuck in the Middle With You" - Reservoir Dogs

Ever since I saw that flick, I think of that song as the ear-cutting song.
