This may not be accurate but is the first attempt I've seen to show where the money goes:

Sony doesn't break out SoE financials (I asked). My firm at the time was the auditor for Sony and I couldn't even get SoE financial info as an insider.
SoE rolls up to the Entertainment division and with the movie studios and record companies in that division, the SoE segment isn't material to that division's financials and by SEC law the corporation does not have to disclose that segment's financials. I seriously doubt anyone like Kelly Flock would disclose this information even anecdotally.
I would guess that the profit is significantly lower and the development costs are higher for game developers as a whole. Mature segments are often used as "cash cows" to help fund new development efforts.

Congratulations to them for having created such a lucrative product. I should hope to be as successful some day.

So in the case of SOE it would be 55% Pure Profit since they have no Customer Service.

By the article, it seems the writer has quite the bias against MMOG's as a whole, or he just fell flat on his face trying to be funny...
