Your most common quick courtesy text reply to a joke/humor

What courtesy response do you use most frequently to acknowledge a /tell, email, ICQ or other form of written message that includes a joke when you don't have enything else to say?

It's been said proposed that a "heh" response implies less interest than "hehe"

Does anyone else get annoyed by people that type ... after every message? It leaves the impression that they're on antidepressants or someting... like they expect something bad to happen... I understand typing ... when there is more to the story or it's an open ended response but if you ask a yes or no question, a response of "yes..." doesn't seem to be conclusive...

yes... seems like you want to say "whatever" but don't wanna hurt the persons feelings, at least that's how I read it (or write it sometimes  )

"Hehe," but it's really a toss up between that and "har!"

if it actually makes me laugh I'll type "lol"
if it's just amusing then "hehe" or "haha" usually suffice
since I'm female I'll also throw in the occasional *giggle*

Sirensa took my answer!!!

But I will add... if it actually makes me laugh so loud my stomach hurts, I will give them a 'hahahahahahahahahahaha'

Ugh. I hate when people do that. Although, it's nice to see you admitting that the use of "heh" is usually has negative implications. Whenever somebody answers me with that word in casual conversation, I ask what I did to annoy them, and 9 times out of 10, I'll get a response of "I'm not annoyed. That's how I laugh." Even though when they find something genuinely funny, they'll throw out "haha" or "lol."

Grr.

It depends on the joke. In ascending order of funny its; heh, hehe, lol, rofl, LOL!!!!.

I'll use 'heh' to be polite or if the joke was mildly funny. However, sometimes I accidently type 'heh' when I wanted to type 'hehe'.

I usually reply with LOL. Unless it's really really funny, then I reply with LMAO (which you don't have on your list). :)

Major omissions on the list were using smilies : ) as a response and LMAO.

See, for me the ascending order is:

hehe, lol, haha, lmao, rofl and roflmao.

I refuse to use 'heh' or 'heheheh'. They both always feel like they're virtually contrived to me. I voted "hehe" since the topic was which one is used as a *courtesy* laugh. "Hehe" is the equivalent of a chuckle for me.
