$800 and a TV

Been cleared to purchase a TV that's actually newer than the 25" RCA I have had since '91. That price leaves pretty much regular or smaller wide screen TV's and it will hopefully have a HDTV tuner built in if possible. We have Comcast cable that's not digital yet, but it wouldn't hurt to be able to upgrade to it at some point in time. I guess the real issues are whether wider screen tv's (even if it's just a 30" one) still make normal HGTV and Food Network programs look silly since that's what we are watching most of the time and what brands people tend to prefer.

At first, the forced wide-aspect looked weird to me, but I think it's something that most people get used to over time. If it's something that concerns you, your best bet is to have the store demo how it looks and see if it is something that will be acceptable for you.
