Well after a few stressful months of looking for a house, we finally found one!

Cute 4 bedroom semi on a quiet street just a short jaunt from downtown (Woodbine/Gerrard for those who are familiar with Toronto).

I almost feel like a grownup now.

I haven't moved in 10 years and most of my shit is going into the trash or donated to Goodwill.

I'm getting married in Feb so we're gonna decorate from scratch.

When we put the offer in on this one, my fiancee looked like she was gonna pass out from the anxiety/stress.

The funny thing is we had been in multiple offer situations 3 times before this one.

It certainly was a learning experience.

I do not know how people can afford their first house today. I bought mine 10 years ago for 140,000 and today it would cost me 450,000. Mind you this is 80 miles outside Los Angeles. The same house 30 miles closer goes for 750,000. My friend just bought a 40 year old house near LA and his payments are 7K a month. If you had a home already the equity would make it easier, but when I was 24 and bought this house I was making less then 60K a year. Today you must make 100,000K a year minimum or inherit one. I do not know a lot of young 20's making that kind of cash.

Heh, this one wasn't cheap... but our goal was to keep our mortgage under 1500 a month. We had a good lot to put on a down payment.

Ours is almost 90 years old

A house down the street sold for 1.4 mil earlier this summer.

Here in L.A., it's still almost cheaper to rent than buy.

I used to live in the Gerrard / Victoria Park area. The coolest thing about where you are moving is Queen St. on Sunday afternoons.

Great area and congrats on the house and the wedding.

Congrats on the house! It does make you feel more grown up very quickly. It does feel great to finally have some space and a yard so it's definitely worth it.

It's been almost two months and we're still unpacking ourselves. Just trying more than anything else to get the baby room ready before she's born so she won't be huffing wet paint. Send me your e-mail and I'll send you my easyshare link to pics of ours.
