Cheney vs. Clinton in 2008

Read a piece by, or maybe about Bob Woodward yesterday where he said it looked like we're headed toward a Cheney vs. Clinton race in 2008.
I don't think Cheney will run, but given the choice(/puke) I'd probably vote for Hillary. Just the thought of doing that makes me gag. But given those two choices she'd be the lesser evil.
Unless of course there was a viable third party candidate with the buttloads of ready, preferably private cash a realistic run would take. Not likely.

What will make the first successful third party candidate is people backing one now, lp.org !
Given a choice between Cheney and Clinton, I am voting none of the above.

Cheney would have a hard time beating anybody. he simply does not have the personality that people like when they vote for a president.
If you dont think personality matters, it is the only asset that Bush Jr had when he ran in 2000. and it was the principle weakness of his opponent.

I thought Dick Cheney was already the President

Cheney wouldn't be a viable candidate, would he? He's the Republican's Al Gore, in terms of personality.

Cheney has set up enough business deals that it would not be in his best interest to run for president. I am sure he will become a VERY high paid consultant for Halliburton about an hour after the current term expires.
I will vote libertarian as usual.

If our choices were Clinton/Cheney, I would vote for Nader.

I'd vote for Dick. I'd also pray for Hillary to die before the election.

The odds are highly in favor of Dick dying before the election though.

I just hope to God that McCain isn't put off by Bush and Co's dirty tricks in the 2000 election, and runs again. He is exactly the kind of man we need running the country. Yes, he has his flaws, but he stands up and doesn't try and dogde shit. He actually says things when he talks, and doesn't just regurgitate the 2 or 3 talking points his tiny brain can handle.
Hillary is such a liberal douche that she might be the only Democratic candidate that could actually LOSE to a jellyfish like Cheney.

Guiliani will run in 08 on the GOP ticket. After Bush, the republicans are in pretty much the same boat as the democrats are in when it comes to un-electable candidates. Trying to find a neocon that doesn't have pure evil visibily seeping out of every pore on his body is somewhat rough these days. He won't be able to resist the lure of the presidency. All that numb cunt has to do is put on his FDNY/NYPD/NY Yankees baseball cap and americans fall down around him in an almost religious rapture.
This has probably already been decided anyway.
Guiliani will run, and the democrats won't bother putting Hillary up against him, because he will hose her down and eat her breakfast with his oily charisma and phony everyman persona. The republicans will probably win the presidency again (this time maybe even legitimately, if you want to call anything that goes on in US politics legitimate), but now not only will you have a president wholly owned by corporate america, but you'll have one who actually hates poor people as opposed to just having a disdain for them. You'll have a president who's policy on reducing poverty is to load poor people onto a rocket and shooting them into the sun.

Cheney said months ago that is absolutely not running.
McCain would be an unbelievably strong candidate. I would vote for him over Guliani.

McCain has a record of being ethical and moral from what I've seen, I don't see him getting the nod. I'd vote for him.
As Kyou said, I'm sure it's already decided. I'm guessing on Hillary from the Dem side, not sure on the Repub side. Someone unknown that's controlable.
I don't think someone associated with the current administration has much of a chance. The Dems are saving all their dirt for election time, I'm sure they've a bin full.

I would like it McCain gives it another try... he may have not been a gerat president, but I think he would have done ok for a moderate. This country is starving for a quasi-likeable president...or even a quasi-likeable presidential candidate. Lately, it has been ivy-league trash, white trash, PMRC douchebags and the elderly.
Shit, now that I think about it, the most likeable president we have had in the last 15 years is a guy that stuffed a stogie into some intern's box and tried to play it off like all he did was wink at some teenaged gal selling cotton candy at the local Costco.
On the other hand--I could totally party the tubetops off of GW's daughters at any range.
It is a toss-up.
VOTE FOR JON STEWART 2008.

Actually I'd vote for Rudy in a heartbeat. Can't say that about many people. McCain would stand a much better chance than Harpie...er, Hillary, IMHO.

Do you know what he stands for?
He got all this publicity for being the "good guy" after 9/11 just for posing for the cameras and giving some shallow speeches.
I suppose that has worked in getting people elected before !

Talk to a few people from new york about rudy. And I don't mean people from the upper west side, I mean people from the Bronx, Queens, etc. He is was and always will be an EXTREME racist scumbag. There is no way he would win even if he was silly enough to run.

Funny about Rudy he was being thrown out of office and treated like shit, then his city got fucked, their fire and police services were woefully underpreprared and trained and it made him a hero.

I will vote for anyone that runs against Hillary. I would hope to see a McCain/Giuliani ticket in 2008. That would keep Hillary out of office until about 2020 at which point a real candidate might emerge from the Dems.

As a democrat, I'd gladly vote for the GOVERNATOR. More realistically though, considering he can't actually run, I would also vote for McCain over Clinton any day.

wouldnt it be awesome if bill maher ran?
eh at least guliani isnt a religious-right neocon dumbshit...he doesnt let religious issues interfere with his opinions and he truly is a moderate...although his visibly phony asskissing of bush in 04 has really turned me off…I just pray that we don’t have president frist… either way there is a good chance I wont be living here by the next presidential election so at least that will be a bonus

firefighters in NYC have some of the best training in the world...can you source something that you got that from, or just pulling it out the ol ass?
the only problem with the NYC fire dept is depleted man power...this is a problem nationwide from firehouse to firehouse

Nope they were not prepared and they were undertrained, the are not the best trained by any stretch of the imagination, the Phoenix Fire Department as an example OWNS them. I am not saying they are all dumbassess or anything but if you look at what their unions were saying prior to 9/11 and what they were spending each year on training there is no other logical result.
And yes, I actually work at a fire department, one that gets the most calls per capita in the nation.

McCain is going to run. That much is pretty certain based on his positioning the past year. He has a decent shot at winning the republican nomination with the war dragging out and republicans needing to compromise a bit in order to keep their party in the oval office.
Hillary has no shot at winning a presidential election so I hope she runs and wins the democrat nomination instead of being added on as a VP to a stronger candidate. She might kill that person a few days after he took office to assume the position.
