What a fucking idiot. He had numbers that would guarantee him to be in the Hall of Fame. Now he tested postive for steroids and gets only a 10 day suspension.

They should wipe any record he owns.

Its going to be interesting to see how him, sosa, bonds, and mcguire are going fare in future hall of fame balloting.

I believe that he didn't intentionally take a banned substance. He has no reason whatsoever to use steroids at this point in his career. The rumor is that he took something a teammate offered him, and if that's true, he is a fucking idiot. But I still believe he didn't intentionally take anything. He had nothing to gain from it.

I completely agree with Vetiria. This sucks for me though, as I'm a complete Orioles fan, and I've always been in manlove with Raffy.

Willing to bet money on him taking something when he went from being the singles leader to hittin 38+ homers for 8 straight seasons.

Raffy certainly started putting up different sorts of stats once Jose came to town. (Edit: ie, when they were both with Texas in the early 90s)

On a side note, talk radio in Boston is buzzing thinking that Jason Giambi must be back on the juice (14 homers in July). I tend to think it's not true with him, given his candid apology earlier this year, but one never knows.

I can definitly see Pal hitting the juice. He has the choice of crawling to the end of his career, or aging very gracefully while doing so. 10 days, big deal. The guy is probably totally hooked on performance since he's been doing it forever. It's hard for a guy like that to end a career to boos while hitting .235 6 45.

As far as Giambi goes, he's the one who's nuts if he goes back to growth hormones and steroids. He already had cancer as a result of its use. But, since he took his test in May, he's free and clear for the remainder of this season.

Honestly you can't go with that as proof, 1993 was the year that the ball got juiced to up home run totals.

There are a few more players whose homerun totals jumped that year, just can't remember them.

The only difference between the ball players of today and those in the past who are in the Hall of Fame are that the players today got caught. Sucks to lose everything but you reap what you sow.

And in the coincidence of the day, Barry announces he won't be back at all this year.

I think he has a positive test also like Palmeiro, but also sees that the arbitration process would not go in his favor, therefore, his knee continues "to recover slowly"

Yankee fan or not I dont believe he is. He's not stupid enough to risk his career to jump back on and get caught..

Apparently, the MLB knew he took them because he failed the test the week he got 3000 career hits (July 15th) but chose to wait until now to come out and say it.

Some reporter for the Chicago Tribune said (or hinted) that Palmeiro, and the MLB wanted to wait until he made history with 3000 hits. I don't know if I buy it but will be interesting if it turns out to be true.

As for the "He could have been taking a supplement over the counter. Sometimes things get mixed up,'' - Pierzynski, then I would charge him with being stupid. For one thing, pharmacists triple check the prescription to make sure shit like that doesnt happen. Second, you are not suppose to take anyting gthat anybody offers you without knowing what the fuck it is.

I think he's guilty. He hasnt come out yet to say he is innocent. He's just taking it, and will probably continue to play without any real comment on the situation.

Pharmacists don't check anything over the counter.....anyone can walk in anad buy it right off the shelves. There are tons of supplements that contain ingredients that are banned. Probably 70% of the people suspended in football and baseball are taking those supplements that they find at a place like GNC.

In today's tainted age though, they are absolutely incredibly stupid for not paying someone to check those ingredients on anything they ingest against the banned list.

Actually he failed the test in May and went through the secret appeal process in June and we aren't finding out until now.

The reason I said that was because I did a search on Winstrol (the steroid he used) and it turns out is a Prescription medicine. It was nothing over the counter. Looking back at my post, I missed a sentence.

Giambis career was over until this latest Home Run boom. He had nothing to lose by going back to the juice. (if hes gone back to the juice).
And I contend, if he's stupid enough to start up the first time, he's stupid enough to go back to them.

hittin HR as a lefty in Yankee Stadium isnt exactly something that requires juice...
