It is WAY better than Diet Coke. But it doesnt have anything on Coca Cola Classic, but sugar is sugar, and it is tough to fool the tremendous sugar detector in our heads

It's ok, I don't dislike it as much as diet I guess. It tastes similar to coke to me, but without the bite.

Is it Splenda?

Personally I think it's nasty... but then again, Diet Coke is my drink of choice.

Coca-Cola Zero
Ingredients: Carbonated water, caramel color, phosphoric acid, aspartame, potassium benzoate (to protect taste), natural flavors, potassium citrate, acesulfame potassium, caffeine
Nutrition Facts: Serving size: 8 fl oz; Servings per container: 2.5; Amount per serving: Calories: 0; Total fat: 0g; Sodium: 30mg; Total carbohydrates: 0g; Protein: 0g
Aspartame = Nutrasweet. No thanks!
I avoid Splenda as well.

A good percentage of Splenda metabolizes into chlorine, which is one of the most active free radicals you can take in.

Coke Zero supposedly has Splenda instead of the other non-caloric (aspartame!) sweeteners. I think it's pretty good, close to regular Coke.
Still like Pepsi One better- no aspartame in it either! I'm glad they've finally started making sugar free sodas that don't taste like rotten ass. Hopefully it'll reduce the amount of fat ass kids that are 10 years old and weigh twice as much as I do.

Wrong. I already posted the ingredients! And according to Coca-Cola's own press release:
Coca-Cola Zero will be sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium

?
Pepsi One
Ingredients: carbonated water, caramel color, natural and artificial flavors, phosphoric acid, aspartame, citric acid, sodium benzoate (preserves freshness), caffeine and acesulfame potassium (Ace-K)
Nutrition Facts: Serving Size: 8 fl. oz. Servings per Container: 2.5 Amount per serving: Calories: 1 Total Fat: 0g Sodium: 30mg Protein: 0g Total Carbohydrates: 0g Sugars: 0g
I suggest actually reading those ingredient labels.

I didn't have a can of Coke handy - you're probably right about that one, but my Pepsi One can does not have aspartame listed on the ingredients. They changed it a while back, maybe the older version did have some, but I don't think the new one does. If so it's not listed - only sucralose (Splenda brand).
Edit:

You'd think they would be consistent.
Either way, Splenda isn't something I would be ingesting either. I place that in the same category as Nutrasweet.

I dont see why you just dont drink the normal kind and go get some fucking excercise after. sugar isn't even all that bad for you unless you just sit on your ass and let it turn into fat.
I just drink regular soda.

Health problems of real or diet soda arenlt really a problem until you get to addict levels of consumption, and at that point the shit in diet cola is far worse for you than a metric ton of sugar.
But, hey, if it makes retards feel better to go to DQ and order a burger and fries with a blizzard and "a diet coke"... =)

Regular soda makes my molars feel as if they're sticking together. To me, I'd rather get my calories from food so diet drinks it is. To be honest, the diet 7up, a&w cream soda and root beer are all very good. Crystal light lemonade is also very good.
Coke is very conservative when it comes to adjusting their formulas after the New Coke disaster. They have also been losing diet market share mostly from Cadbury of late. Seems that Cadbury is able to improve the taste of their drinks by adjusting their formulas w/out throwing the masses into a tizzy unlike coke.
Ace-K is really the difference in Coke Zero as well as most of the other diet drinks being released these days. It mixes well with the aspartame as a sugar substitute in beverages.

I think it's possible you have forgotten how to judge correctly, all coca cola products are a piece of shit.
Say it with me, piece of shit.
And again, PIECE OF SHIT.
Now walk away!

After drinking Crystal Light, I felt like my body had just become an incubator for cancer cells. Ug, Crystal Light has the most artificial flavor/taste I've experienced.
All diet drinks suck. I must be super sensitive to artificial sweeteners. Id rather have my teeth rot out and swap gum kisses than drink that stuff. Then again, there's always brushing and flossing, or like someone else mentioned, try cutting back on soft drinks! c-c-c-cacao and water...mmmm!

Coke Zero is basically the same 0 calorie drink as Diet Coke.
I *think* the difference is that it's mixed with the exact same formula as regular coke, only with Aspartame instead of Sugar. Obviously that's why it tastes more like regular coke than the diet coke does.
I work for coca cola and I know the secrets!
Coke Zero has been HUGE in this area.
Fact: They call it "Coke Zero" instead of "Diet Coke Whatever" because men tend to associate Diet coke with women and consider it a womens' drink.
Coke Zero is for MEN!
I don't keep a diary i keep a JOURNAL!!!

Never really got into any sodas, I drink water when I work and more water or beer when I don't. And if someone else goes to the trouble of making it, I'll drink tea or lemonade.

Diet Coke is trash. Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper are my staples.
Why so harsh on Aspartame? Is there something beyond the chemical taste that is associated with all artificial sweeteners? Do people feel that Aspartame somehow tastes worse than other sweeteners?
Personally, I don't think Aspartame tastes any worse than sucralose or saccharin sweetners. I think they all taste different, and all are less pleasant than sugar, but Aspartame is the only one I've managed to adjust to (possibly due to it's prevalence in the market, I'm not sure); I rarely ever even notice it these days.

aspratame is pretty toxic in large quantities. I think a lot of people take exception to that.

A lot of things are toxic in large quantities. That does not mean they are bad for you in reasonable quantities.
The unique thing about Aspartame is that, unlike other artificial sweeteners, it is fully metabolized. Upon ingestion, the body breaks Aspartame (L-alpha-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester) down into three parts:
1. Phenylalanine, an essential amino acid. Excess phenylalanine in the body is converted to tyrosine, another necessary amino acid. There exists an uncommon condition known as Phenylketonuria whereby the enzyme (phenylalanine hydroxylase) that is responsible for this conversion does not properly function; in this case excess phenylalanine is converted to the more toxic phenylacetate and phenyllactate by an alternative metabolic pathway.
2. Aspartic acid, a non-essential amino acid and neurotransmitter which plays an important part in both nitrogen waste removal and cellular respiration, as well as immune system function.
3. Methanol which, while toxic, occurs in extremely low quantities. A serving of Aspartame contains less methanol than the average tomato.
I've looked around and am unable to find a credible source with information on the rumored toxicity of Aspartame. There are many sites which claim such things; however, none of the information contained within these sites has any reference, and all 'professional' studies cited are always linked within the same site and, again, always lack references.
Excess phenylalanine in the body can be toxic; however, a normally functioning (ie, non-phenylketonuric) metabolism can break down phenylalanine far more quickly than it builds up unless you are ingesting extreme amounts of Aspartame or other phenylalanine-containing foods.
Excess aspartic acid is rumored to potentially trigger migraines in those suceptible, however I am unable to find any sources to back this claim.
Excess methanol is of course toxic; however, it does not accumulate over time and thus the quantity of Aspartame needed to receive a harmful dose of methanol would be ridiculously high, akin to the doses used in the famous "studies" of saccharin-based sweeteners (which have been discredited - saccharin was removed from the known/suspected carcinogens lists in 1998) or higher.

The fact that I don't like aspartame has nothing to do with the taste. It's simply not natural and I don't want to consume it so I don't. But you're free to be used as a guinea pig if you desire to do so. I won't stop you! How long were cigarette around before they were found to cause cancer? More than likely a lot longer than aspartame! (And yes I know that just about nothing I eat these days is fully natural but some choices you have more contol over.)
Here's an interesting article that seems rather unbiased to me -
http://www.womentowomen.com/LIBsplenda.asp
Aspartame, the main ingredient in Equal and NutraSweet, is responsible for the most serious cases of poisoning, because the body actually digests it. Aspartame should be avoided by most women, but particularly in those with neuropsychiatric concerns. Recent studies in Europe show that aspartame use can result in an accumulation of formaldehyde in the brain, which can damage your central nervous system and immune system and cause genetic trauma. The FDA admits this is true, but claims the amount is low enough in most that it shouldn’t raise concern. I think any amount of formaldehyde in your brain is too much.
So is Splenda safe? The truth is we don’t know yet. There are no long-term studies of the side effects of Splenda in humans. But the manufacturer’s own short-term studies showed that sucralose, the chemical name for Splenda, caused shrunken thymus glands and enlarged livers and kidneys in rodents. In this case, the FDA decided that because these studies weren’t based on human test animals, they were not conclusive. Of course, there are countless examples of foods and drugs that proved dangerous to humans that were first found to be dangerous to laboratory rats. So the reality is that we are the guinea pigs for Splenda.
Drink up!

I just stay away from artificial sweeteners based on the fact that they give me headaches, doesn't have to be a lot either.. couple of cans of diet coke over a day is enough, but six gives me the kind of pain you'd expect from an eye-strain headache.
