I am not a San Diegan. I am a North Countyian or a Vistan to be specific.

At least it isn't Escondildo.

Correctly pronounced, Vista should rhyme with "pissed ah". I think that's what the marketing people were going for. Vist-ahhh...what a relief!

That's the way it's supposed to be pronounced. It's fucking spanish you stupid fuck.

Vista is apparently the new supreme word in marketing. Every other real estate subdivision or business park out here is named ____ Vista. And the blank may be either english or spanish. It's like the catch phrase of marketing or some shit.

Vista means view in spanish. Out here, we have it on everything. I live in Vista, went to elementary school at Monte Vista, we have a Rancho Buena Vista High School as well.

I don't know shit about latin, but the pronunciation of the vowels e and i in italian are the same as in spanish.

There's a line of sewing machines, an elevator monitoring system, even a brand of detergent used to clean dairy equipment — all bearing the brand name Vista. There are plenty of computer products that claim the Vista trademark, too.

So Microsoft Corp.'s choice of Vista as the name for the next version of its Windows operating system has some intellectual property experts wondering if a company that has been fiercely protective of its own trademarks will get hauled into court.
