needs bigger tires!

Nah, no need for really large tires. The 4X4 Taco stock handles hard offroad like a champ--I have banged my truck through plenty of terrain and even have a bit of extra length with the Xtra cab. The reg cab model as Stragi has can eat through terrain....and it looks like he has a bit of extra clearance with the aftermarket wheels/tires.
Also, it is a Toyota and built to last. I have had mine since 2001 and have only had to replace to blower motor, which was kind of a rarity to give out anyway...$40 and a quick glovebox removal fixed that problem right up!
There are some nice trails up in the Flagstaff area Strags, enjoy!
edit: Looks like it has a bit of a body/suspension lift as well. Not too high and looks sharp.

Tyres outside the rims are legal in the states? I dread to see the state of the paintwork after driving through some mud =)

It definitely needs to be riced out a bit. A spoiler, some stripes, a couple dozen stickers on the rear window.... maybe a family of chinese immigrants in the back for some authenticity.
