Ok, caught one of the commercials about gear and such that Lance Armstrong will have this year, and this one was about the bike. They said that the bike weighed only 2.5 lbs. I am assuming this is before tires and some of the other items (handlebar wraps, etc), but STILL! that is damned light. I obviously haven't ridden on a high-end bike, but I would think that the lack of weight could work against you as well. I guess I am too used to riding offroad and throwing the vehicle around with your legs?

That's just the frame and fork. Not the rest of the bike. His bike weighs about 16lbs. give or take bottle cages and pedals.

Pro road bikes used in competition can't weigh less than 6.8 kg (14.99 pounds) due to UCI regulations. In some cases weight is added to nonconforming bikes. Two bikes that are commercially available that break this weight limit are the Cannondale Six13 and the Scott CR1.
