I've been using TightVNC. It's benefits are that the viewer executable doesn't require installation on the remote computer which is what you need if you don't have admin rights at work.

Ive been using the TightVNC 1.3dev5 development version since it came out almost a year ago. If you try it, be sure to install the DFMirage hook driver to improve performance.

I run RealVNC via ssh tunnels all over the place, great program. If it weren't for that and console servers, there's no way I could do my job.

How do these apps work going through a linksys router. I used to use terminal services to access my home machines from work but it isn't working anymore for some reason.

You need to open up ports 5800 and 5900 typically. Your router probably is blocking them or some firewall crap.
CHeck your router manual on how to unblock ports.

more likely you would need to use the router's web page (like
http://192.168.2.1) to map ports on the router to your internal machine.

You probably don't want to allow any computers except those you use at work through. Leaving it hanging open for everyone in the world is asking for problems.
