Firefox more vulnerable than first thought?

The Mozilla Foundation has said it is "working aggressively" to fix two flaws in its open source Firefox browser.
The vulnerabilities, reported on Saturday, were identified as "very critical", but no cases had been reported of them being exploited.
Several security firms identified the flaws which could let websites run malicious code on a person's computer.
Mozilla has responded by changing its update service and says people should temporarily turn off JavaScript code.

Firefox, much like Apple's OS X is invulnerable to malicious code...because its made of magic.

Are people trying to use this argument to suggest that one should use IE because although IE has more documented security holes than Firefox the fact that Firefox has any at all makes it a unsuitable alternative?

I don't think that's the case. I do think that Firefox advocates may go a little too far by talking smack about IE vulnerabilities, and how they don't affect Firefox, but I don't think anyone has ever really claimed that Firefox itself was invulnerable.
However, I will point out that the updated Firefox is already available, so at least they are a lot faster in fixing vulnerabilities.
