according to that the average world salary is 865 US dollars a year, i would imagine its a bit higher then that

After taxes I made 31k last year. So I put in 31000. It said:

you have to count your pretax income since you receive benefits from taxation. for instance you probably drive on roads managed by the Interstate Highway program, and certainly recieve goods and services that do. and you are protected by the military, etc.
that being said, i wouldnt be surprised if it skews people to be richer than they really are to solicit donations.
i agree with what Chidoro said in that income doesnt measure wealth. for instance Bush made $800,000 last year. but he is probably WAY wealthier than the average person with that income at that age.
If it measured wealth, it may not skew so much to rate middle class americans as among the richest in the world. of course, it is also not adjusted for cost of living, which varies tremendously even within the US, let alone across the globe.

On the wealth/income thing: Like Voro said, one would expect middle-class Americans to rank relatively higher in income than they do in wealth. The average American has virtually no wealth.
The numbers that some expressed shock over, specifically an income of 31k falling above the 93rd percentile and average income being about 865 $/yr sound totally plausible to me. I can't recall the numbers offhand, but I would imagine that those are reasonable ballpark figures.

Any figure that Sueven gives associated with his personal wealth is bullshit and way too low. He has ties to the Russian mob. His personal wealth increases with each batch of mail order Russian brides that arrive in the U.S.

Tbh I am not surprised, as Sueven states, most of the rest of the planet is less wealthy than us in the developed world.
The cows in the field near my house live on more money per day than about 2/3 of the planet does.
That is messed up beyond belief.
Edit: On a side note there is a massive difference between quality of life and wealth, for example, my dad bought a house in Spain last year, and the people in Spain tend to be less wealthy than us here, but they have an infinitely more beautiful and warm place in which to live, as well as their general way of life and diet; I think this makes them richer than Ireland imo, irrelevant, but true.

It's the same in the United States. Best places to live in the United States:
Mid-Atlantic region (Maryland Virginia Delaware Pennsylvania New York): Temperate climate, lush plant life, plenty of water, no natural disasters, few large predators (mountain lions / black bears / wolves), few poisonous animals (rattlesnakes / copperheads / water mocassins / brown recluse).
Non-Desert Southwest (Northern New Mexico Arizona San Diego etc): Gorgeous scenery, no real winters, low humidity. Have to deal with some natural disaster issues like mudslides, and some more poisonous animals, but a nice spot.
Too bad we cut it down and paved it over.
I would give up everything I have for the chance to explore a new continent hospitable to humans.

This number seems kind of dubious, so I did some looking. I found net worth numbers for the U.S. broken down by household here ...DID YOU

The breakdown for the lower brackets is as follows
15 percent - Zero or negative
9.2 percent - $1 to $4,999
5.3 percent - $5,000 to $9,999
8.4 percent - $10,000 to $ 24,999
10.4 percent - $25,000 to 49,999
These account for just over the bottom 48 percent. Lets Ignore the bottom 15 percent for just the moment (I'll get back to it). Lets also use only 7 percent of the highest bracket to trim it down to 45 percent. If we multiply the percentages by the number of households we can get the number of households in that bracket. As a rough calculation, and to be generous, I used the bottom number of net worth for each bracket. So for the 9.2 percent in the 2nd bracket I used a net worth of $1 for all of them etc. Calculating it out and adding it up, I get a total of 298 billion. At one point Gates was worth over 40 billion I believe, probably a bit less now, if someone has a better number you can use it instead. Obviously quite a bit lower than 298 billion. But I did skip that negative bracket earlier. If everyone in that bracket has a debt of $16,000 or so, then it does work out. So, its possible the number might be true, but by that reasoning it is also true that I, personally, have more net worth than the lowest 15 percent of households in the U.S combined, and so does anyone whose net worth is $1 or more.

I lived in Maryland. It's expensive. Traffic sucks. And there was also water shortage issue at the time. Not that temperate either.
