I bought an new comp late Dec. and was wondering how moldy it had become already. I didn't start with very top end cpu or memory but the graphics card was high end ( for about a week ) just under 2k$

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.40GHz ( 800 fsb )
RADEON X800 XT
Total Physical Memory 1022 MB
Total Pagefile Memory 2.40 GB ( i.e. 1 gig of DDR2 )

New machines running top end cpu, memory, raid drive config, and 2 of this weeks best graphics cards in tandum are getting a record 7,665 score on 3DMark05 game gauge. This machine was 4400$ if build yourself

420meg download and 620 install for 05 version.

I clocked in at 5141 and have no issues running anything I have tried. ( never tried Halo, perhaps the worst framerate hog ever )

So still good to go!.

lol $4K for a computer is like putting dubs on a Neon.

Pay no heed to the man who has to buy diapers! That's like 4K a year right there!

There is a sweet spot though for value/performance that usually gets you very near the highest performance levels at a lower price.
