New Star Wars Trailer

Post by Brotha »

Did anyone see it? It aired sometime during the OC tonight. You can see it at the Star Wars website, but you have to become a member of the fanclub and that costs 40 bucks. Also, it will be showing before the movie Robots, which comes out on Friday.

I just now heard about it or I probably would have watched the OC just see the trailer. I wasn't a big fan of Episode's 1 and 2 (although I still found them worth watching), but I'm really looking forward to Episode 3.

If you saw the trailer spill the beans! Or, if you have a link to it post it! If not I guess I'll just wait till Monday when it becomes free on their website.

Ok it's available for AOL members too, I was just able to watch it.

Looked pretty badass. In one scene Samuel L and 3 other jedi are trying to arrest Palpatine and he draws his lightsaber and charges at them, that's definently gonna be a kickass fight. From the trailer it looks like Anakin for most of the movie is just going to be himself, I guess he turns into Darth Vader towards the end. Also, it sheds a little more light on how exactly Anakin is turned to the dark side. I really can't wait to see this movie...

i have an AOL membership. when AOL merged with Time Warner, they made us all install AOL on our desktops, and there was horror as talk of using their software for our enterprise mail actually was seriously entertained.

many IT professionals contemplated "going postal" during those days. :p

<strike>i have no idea what my ID/PW is!</strike>

that trailer owned.

Lucas is supremely good at pacing trailers. still can't overlook the fact that he could kill the movie, but it looks terrific.

edit: i just watched it again. it really is cool. who would have ever thought that having AOL on my work machine would pay off.

if those fail, just try http://starwars.com now. the "medium" & "large" sizes are open to the public, but only the thirteen-thirtyseven and priveleged hysperspace and AOL members can see it in "EXTRA LARGE."

as far the trailer. not as exciting as the teaser from way back when, but still very well produced. 8)

I thought that about Ep.2, but he sure as shit managed to fuck that one up! Fuck that Darth Vader guy could give Keanu Reeves a run for the coveted "Most Wooden Actor" award

I'm sure his acting will improve 100% once they stick the big helmet on him, and have James Earl Jones reading his lines

The trailer fookin rules. So do the snippets on the Clone Wars Series DVD.

My insider contact counted 140 beheadings/impalements in the pre-edit footage.
Lucas says it's a PG-13 - a first for a Star Wars movie.

I'm so there.

Far be it for me to be taken aback by most sci-fi garbage or even the nonsense that has been Lucas' MO since Empire (24 fucking years of utter crap George), but the chancellor lunging towards Jackson and the Jedi-Stand-In fodder was pretty intense. It was also pretty cool watching Ugly Evil Guy haul senate platfoms at Yoda.

Btw, if you watched the 60 Minutes piece, does anyone know exactly where George Lucas left his chin? I mean the man had one huge neck mudflap for the likes which I've never seen before on a human under 300 pounds.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

After watching it, I've noticed a few things.

The Chancellor could have been the only person to turn Anakin. Even though Anakin had issues with authority, he respected Palapatine. I've always known Palapatine would going to be the future Emperor, the chin thing just gives it away. All Anakin ever cared about was becoming more powerful than anyone, so the powers of the Dark Side (being unnatural) were the perfect bait.

I paused the trailer at a specific point where Anakin is fighting Count Dooku in front of Palapatine (who is sitting on his emperor throne from RotJ). There are also robes on the ground that might be Jedi that have ascended, or possibly Anakin and Dooku threw them down to fight. I'm wondering if this could be a coorelation to the Vader/Skywalker fight in RotJ, where Palapatine wants best of the two to be his right hand man, and makes them fight for it.

Yeah saw that too, agree with you in that it's most likely the same thing as in RotJ. I had been wondering what was going to happen to Dooku.

What I still want to know is, how come in Episodes 4-6 the only person who can do that electricution thing from his fingers is Palpatine, but Yoda and Dooku did it in Episode 2. Why didn't Yoda ever show or mention that to Luke? Or Darth Vader use it? Yoda did do it in episode 2 when he was fighting Dooku right?

That's the case in both of the Knights of the Old Republic games...

Also, I didn't realize the Palpatine is the emperor was a spoiler at all. I believe 'The Emperor' in 4-6 was referred to as Emperor Palpatine, at least once. Perhaps just in the credits...

Just checked imdb.com for the Ep VI credits...

He's credited as:
Ian McDiarmid .... The Emperor Palpatine

I think in Episode 2 Yoda wasn't really creating the lightning himself. It appeared more that he was just redirecting what Dooku had already shot at him. Not to say that he couldn't, but it probably is dark side, and Yoda was showing that he was just as powerful by being able to absorb it.

Yoda never used it, he just deflected/absorbed it during his fight with Dooku. The lightening attack is a Dark side ability only.

You sound like a Gamemaster!

Lightening Attack

Limitations:

-Dark Side Only
-Can be absorbed by an omega class Jedi such as Yoda
-Blue glow only. Red glow not available until episode 8.

Yeah, now I remember playing Jedi Knight and it was a dark side only ability, which I guess was one reason why I was confused about Yoda using it. Now that I think about it though, yeah Yoda was just kind of deflecting/absorbing it.

Still, Dooku is a little bitch compared to Darth Vader- if he can use it why couldn't Vader?

Funny find Arb!

maybe the reason Vader can't shoot lightning bolts is that he is is partially mechanical, and as such, cannot generate this stuff.

or maybe generating the lightning bolts would fuck up his electronics :p

seeing as he was referred to as "Emperor Palpatine" back in "The Empire Strikes Back," no, I'd say that learning Senator Palpatine becomes the Emperor should not really be a spoiler ;)

Actually, my spoiler disclaimer had nothing to do about Palapatine and his soon-to-revealed occupation :P. I know the credits have listed Palapatine for years, so ne secret there duh (plus the chin!)! It was for the coorelation and how I thought Palapatine could have been the only one to turn Anakin.

[Show]
Yep. That was from the "Rescue Mission" at the begining of EP3. Anakin / Obi Wan fight Dooku again. In the middle of the fight, Dooku force shoves Obi Wan into some stuff and knocks him out. Anakin then begins to fight more aggresively, eventually disarming Dooku and taking his saber.

Mace had ordered Anakin / Obi Wan to capture Dooku alive, if possible. Palpatine quickly convinces Anakin hes too dangerous to leave alive. Dooku pleads for his life, then Anakin crosses the blue / red saber at Dooku's neck.. then.. snip.

Anyone else realize that Jar Jar Binks is the reason for the death of all Jedi? He was the idiot who pushed for more power for Palpatine!

Some floppy eared froglike moron kills all jedi and gives rise to the Emporer, Vader, and the Galactice Empire.
