I'm looking for a 2.1 configuration, something that can really pump out bass, and I've heard the
Logitech Z-3 and
Logitech X-230 are pretty good.
I had a BOSE pair, but the way the wiring was set up fucked them up pretty fast. I'm pretty pissed about that because those were $100 and I can't return them, pretty good ones too. I don't want to spend another $100 for a pair. Subwoofer optional.
Thanks!

Cambridge Soundworks have a THX certified 2.1 set that's quite good, the bass is better than most of the small subs are. I don't know if they suffer from the usual Creative problems of crappy potentiometers though.
Harman Kardon have a good set out but it's got a weird design that might not appeal to you.
Overall I'd probably recommend the Z-2300s, they seem to have the range and the basspower you'd want (120 watts in the sub). Logitech can't seem to understand the idiocy of hardwiring their speakers though - but it's still the set I'd recommend.

The Creative I-Treague 3500's sound great

I listened to every 2.1 speaker set available in the 125.00 and under range (anything more expensive was usually a 4-5 speaker system) and these sounded the best. Excellent midrange and high ends with good bass but could be a little tighter. They have side firing midrange speakers that improve the surround feeling but your soundstage remains focused and in front of you.
Great speakers. I preferred them over the Klipshe and Harmon Kardon's in the same price range.
I had some Monsoon magnetic ribbon driven speakers which have the best highs but are weak on mids and lows before these. The problem was is you moved a few inches in any direction you'd lose the sweet spot. The creatives both sound aweseome and have a huge sweet spot.
They also come with a nice volume, bass, headphone, extra audio in source controller thingy.
They're not super pretty but performance is why I bought them.
