Maybe I am missing part of the story, maybe he was asking too much for his extension, but to release a player that did everything possible for your team seems really cold.

I know the Patriots have been great and that they survived the loss of Ty Law, but what does this say to the players? Troy Brown was the complete opposite of the Randy Moss' of the world and he gets dumped. I know he will end up somewhere but this one surprised me.

Yeah, that does seem odd. Troy Brown was a huge help when he switched over to DB to help out and got what..3 interceptions?

From what I heard he wants to test the market and then most likely resign with the Patriots. Who knows though.

They just turned down the team option for this year, which is probably a good thing for Brown since he can go out and get a signing bonus on whatever new contract he does get. He'll probably sign a multi-year deal with somebody that has a signing bonus about 3/4 the level of his contract this year, with the understanding that he's about to retire... cap number would be smaller than his current number due to the prorated bonus for whoever signs him.

From my understanding, They simply are puttig him aside til they can finish up re-signing Tom Brady. Though, Troy Brown is aging a tad, he's still one of the top receivers in the game.

Though, some see it as a jab at him even after all he did last year...The pats main focus seems to be team before player. Though I do see him getting resigned, if not...The cowboys need all the help they can get

I believe I heard that Brown's cap hit would have been 5 mil this year. They worked on getting something new done before the release. As was stated, they are still very much interested in signing him again (he'll either be on the Pats or the Browns next year).

Bruschi is likely more popular in New England than Mosi Tatupu was in his day - and that is saying a ton. No one knows yet what the future holds for Tedy. Since the Pats let Pfifer go, and with Bruschi's future unknown, you can believe they are in the market for a good inside linebacker.

The bigger shocker to me was them letting Andruzzi go (was a free agent, signed with the Browns). They could have had him at a "home town discount" by some reports but they didn't seem to show interest in retaining him. He's been a solid guard for that line for a few years now - he'll be missed.
