Well, I thought he was goinging to be a Yankee, but it looks as if he'll still be a New Yorker.
4 years though, I think Omar may have flipped his lid. Than again, if he can trade Floyd for Ramirez, the Mets may have something.
What can I say, I hate the NBA, the NHL is shot this year and the Giants look like Pee-Wee's.
Roast me some nuts Por Favor!

Is it something about the Mets that forces them into these stupid decisions? Seriously, aren't they still paying Mo Vaughn?

Actually Mo Vaughns contract was up at the end of the 04 season.. Pedro will end up like any other good player that goes to the Mets.. He'll suck.

Pedro probably has a little left in the tank but I'd place him in the same catagory as Sammy Sosa. No way I'd sign them for big bucks. Pedro is too goofy off the field to make a commitment to.
Older players like Randy Johnson are the ones to pursue. Randy is one focused dude. You know you're going to get 100% out of him even if he's pissed. Steve Finley is another good example of an older player worthy of consideration.

I'd consider paying Pedro big money if I was an aging, quality playoff team looking to push myself over the top.
I wouldn't consider paying Pedro big money if I was an aging team filled with horrific players with equally horrific contracts and on a mission to become younger and more consistent.

There are differences between Randy and Pedro. 1st, Randy isn't a free agent. He only wants to go to the Yankees it seems and he's a power pitcher who's 6'10". Pedro is a power pitcher at what, 5'4"? Still, He'll give them one really good year, maybe two. I can't see a 37 year old Martinez throwing 80 a game let alone 100.
However, Martinez, Glavine, Benson, Trachsel, and Zambrano is a pretty decent starting staff in a shitty division.
Doesn't answer how they can get the last 9 outs though

Unlike the "pro" sports, it doesn't hide the fact that it's fixed and filled with drama.

I think Nintendo is advertising on that site.. subliminally

Nothing subliminal about it, heh.
edit: Hahaha, I just saw the new background, I was refering to the thing they had where they had every "D" and "S" in a special font in every article..
Sarcasm noted, lmao.

Pedro was a pretty amazing pitcher for a time, and he did have some stellar starts when it counted in the playoffs.
luckily in a Mets uniform, he won't have to worry about saving anything in his tank for October.

Another solid pitching rotation, especially if Zambrano comes in healthy...
Put that on paper with a right fielder and first baseman and once again, it looks like a contender...
This year I will wait and see how they look on the field before I jump to conclusions. At the very least, it was nice to see Wright and Reyes begin to mature--those guys are going to be something in the future.
As for the Mets? Well...maybe finally removing the bloated carcass of Vaughn from the patio will be like a curse being lifted.... one can hope.

What's funny is if the Ramirez/Floyd switch happens. Can you imagine Ramirez trying to flag down a fly in the swirling windtunnel that is Shea?

Not sure if anyone here knows about it but Kris Benson's wife says if she ever catches her husband cheating on her, she's going to fuck everyone in the organisation. I think Pedro wanted to go to the Mets. Hell, I would try to sign up as the batboy if I could and set him up.

I think Omar may have flipped his lid
He did that long before he signed Pedro. The contract he gave Benson was outrageous and completely screwed up the FA pitching market. Now a pitcher like Matt Clement, who is a good #3, is going to sign for $9-10 million.
Red Sox need to sign a Clement or Pavano, or trade for Burnett or something. Otherwise David Wells is going to be their opening day starter against the Yankees.

That press conference was one of the funniest sounding things I've ever heard.
And he cut his hair!

1. Before Pedro's starts, the team must provide him with a bowl of M&M's, with all the green ones removed.
2. When he is not the starting pitcher, Pedro is not required to show up for Mets games until after Sammy Sosa has left the Cubs game. When he is the starting pitcher, Pedro must show up 90 minutes before the game but is not required to stay past the sixth inning.
3. Pedro gets first crack with Anna Benson if Kris ever cheats on her.
4. Pedro's dwarf friend, Nelson de la Rosa, gets the use of a private plane 12 times a season for road games. Pedro doesn't have to go to road games.
5. Pedro can get his hair cut in the Mets clubhouse any time he wants, but Rey Sanchez's old barber is not allowed to touch Pedro's hair under any circumstances.
6. Pedro's locker includes a leather recliner and a Hooters waitress, plus a hyperbolic sleep chamber for his chimpanzee, Bubbles.
7. Pedro gets the personal chef that Barry Bonds stole away from Gary Sheffield.
8. During the annual subway series, Pedro receives 60 percent of all revenue from "Who's Your Daddy?" T-shirts sold outside Yankee Stadium.
9. Pedro gets the use of Alex Rodriguez's old merchandising tent during spring training.
10. And the final clause in Pedro's contract ... Mr. Met has to pick up his dirty jockstraps.
