Hangovers

So - what is everyone's cure for them? Have some weird thing you drink? Or do you just last them out?

I - personally - like to smoke a bowl to make them go away, but others would rather do other things.

So please, tell me, how do you get rid of yours?

Simple: Drink a liter of water and eat quite a bit of salt before going to sleep. No hangover, problem solved.

If I know I'm gonna be screwed in the morning I sometimes eat a Peptobismol chewable or two, seems to help.

Lots of water too.

I used to drink a quart of gatorade before I went to bed. But this usually lead to sleep walking and then pissing onto an important possession of mine, such as my TV, dresser, or front door.

A Red Bull and 4 ibuprofens when you get up in the middle of the night to piss.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do to make a hangover go away. At my gf's 20th reunion there was an open bar, and I drank Glenlivet on the rocks, a LOT of them, more than 20 over the course of the night. When I got up the next day I wished I was dead. I ended up with a three day hangover, and most everyone I told about it said I should have gone to the emergency room. Can't drink scotch to this day as a result.

Heh, ugh, never had a hangover that bad but I know what ya know about not being able to drink something again...only time I've ever drank zimas or smirnof, I drank about 7 in an hour or so. I really didn't get that drunk, I was feeling good and I couldnt exactly speak that well but I wasnt falling down or anything so I didnt think about taking anything before bed or anything.

Anyway, next day I wake up and I felt fine, got up and got ready for the 4 hour ride back to my house (was at Auburn, the college I am planning on going to next year). Was about halfway dressed and felt the urge to run to the bathroom. That was puke #1 of 14 over the next 4 hours. I cant drink sweet alcohol at all anymore since then, and the smell of smirnof makes my stomach turn.

Oh, and I think it was the sugar more than the alcohol that made me sick really, because I can drink 3\4ths of a fifth of vodka and be so drunk I cant walk farther than 4 or 5 feet without falling and wake up the next day any feel pretty good, or at least keep from puking.

Part of the hangover is actually a withdrawl from the alcohol since you do develop a short term addiction physically. Generally speaking lots of water before you go to sleep, if you wake up with a hangover drink a beer and more water then sleep for a while. I don't think there is really a good cure though for everyone. Lot's of peoples bodies respond differently. One of my best friends is part Thai (not sure if that has anything to do with it or not) and he never ever gets a hangover... ever

Don't drink. Many other, easier, more enjoyable ways to get yourself jacked up and that are legal..

I've only had 2 hangovers ever in my life. That time coming home from Auburn and once when I drank 5 beers. I've never had a hangover any other time even when the time I drank like 11 beers in 2 hours or so, or any of the many times I've drank 1\2 - 3\4ths of a fifth of vodka.

I've only had a couple of hangovers, and those were when I went WAY overboard.

Funny story from the other night. Usually I don't get sick from drinking too much (in fact before this I never had...I usually just pass out if I drink too much). Well I was going to go over to my gf's apartment for a party, but before that I had dinner with my dad (every saturday night my dad and I go eat mexican food...and lots of it).

So after dinner, I came home for a few minutes and chilled and ate some red liquorish (I'm mentioning what I ate for a reason), then around 10 pm I went over to her apartment.

It was a typical party, except A. I drank way too much and B. my stomach was completely packed full of cheap mexican food and red liquorish. So we're all chilling on her balcony talking, and suddenly BAM I start puking all over myself. I was sitting in a lawn chair so I puked all over my lap and shoes and legs. That Mexican food was chunky and there was a ton of it...I could have sworn there was no way I ate ALL of that for dinner.

The next thing I remember after that is being on her couch passed out. The next day she told me about how people walking through were like "damn that dude shit himself" cause I had thrown up in my lap outside and left a huge wet spot on the bottom of my shorts. After a few minutes though I woke up just long enough to puke somemore- this time the red liquorish came up. It came out in nice little carpet-staining red chunks all over her couch and floor. At this point I kept throwing up for atleast two minutes straight...I honestly just wanted to die.

Luckily, by the end of the night she was drunk enough to want to have sex with me even though I had puked all over myself. It was actually some of the best sex I've ever had.

The next morning I woke up and surprisingly I didn't have a hang over, I just had puke all over my shirt, shorts, and shoes, and was still a little drunk. I went home and showered then came back with some oxyclean (that shit really works) and was able to get the red stains out of her carpet and couch.

I was sort of embarrased at first cause her sister was there and that was my first time meeting her, but looking back at it it was a pretty fun night :P

I've never really had the typical hang over that people describe, despite drinking massive amounts of alcohol. Several times I've had more than 10 beers and more than 10 shots in a night and I never got a headache or anything. Worst thing I get is a bit of dry mouth which I usually cure by drinking a gatorade and having breakfast.

But then again, I'm not exactly your average drinker... I never threw up in HS despite a TON of drinking, even in college, I threw up one time through college because I had 10 shots of 100 proof soco pre-game, went to a party drank 10 beers, wandered into another house had about 3 beers there, and then had about 5 more shots post-game soco. I walked on the side walk toward home and i just turned my head and went bleh, wiped my mouth, and continued without stopping.

I've never found a cure for a hangover although a good way to reduce them is to load up on carbs before drinking. (potatoes, noodles, etc)

It took many many many years, but I've figured out that drinking enough to get a hangover isn't worth it. It basically wastes your next day because even though you go through the motions, you're mental alertness isn't all there and you're suffering from a headache, sometimes stomach problems, and digestional problems on top of it.

In addition to that, I've found that the amount of alcohol consumed for a hangover that may have lasted a day in my early drinking years lasts more like a day and a half now.

Drink in moderation!

Just do like me, never get a hangover :)
No clue why really, but never had a hangover. I should have qualified for several big ones though.

My ex girlfriend's father was from Amsterdam and he always told me to make sure I drank plenty of water and had eaten a good deal of salt before, during, and after I was out getting hammered. I forget why.

Salt is an electrolyte. You piss a lot, sweat, etc when you drink (presumably) so you lose electrolytes as well. It's the same principle as an athlete drinking gatorade.

By eating all of that salt your blood pressure skyrockets, giving you chest pains, a stroke, or heart attack which overshadows any ill effects from a hangover.

Steal some old lady's O2 tank. A couple hits and you are g2g. Otherwise, water really is your best bet. Alcohol dehydrates you and reduces the oxygen to your brain (and the rest of you) because of it. So, water will get your blood moving better or oxygen for the quick fix.

as people above have said, a lot of water.
a Banana is apparently good, something about potassium levels...

Potassium is also an electrolyte--one of the most important actually. That's why a lot of athletes will eat a banana before practice or such things.

Bananas also help prevent cramps so they're a good food to eat before jogging long distances etc.

I don't want to know what you do with a banana and your tail pipe!

Anyway, bananas rule.

Yeah, I have trouble drinking 151 or Limon anymore, couple bad experiences there. And to get over the hangover, a couple cigarettes works, I used to just take like a .05g bump off of a key or something when I was in the meth scene. That definately made me feel great, but if you came down later and the hangover hadn't passed it made you feel inhumanly terrible. Now days the plan is just a smoke or two, maybe toke up a bit or just snuggle up to whoever you fell asleep with and go back to bed...

I always took Nyquil when I got home from drinking. I've only Overdosed 17 times.
