Anyone use them at work? I got tired of people looking at my screen when they walked by.

$160...

Mind you, I'd just stop and lean over your shoulder if I got even the slightest hint that this wasn't about anti-glare

Unless you're doing something you're not supposed to, I don't see why you would be irritated by people looking at your screen. I mean sure, it can be annoying if they get in your face about it, but it's easier to ignore it than whip out $160.

LOTS of people at my current assignment have these. They are popular in industries that are subject to Privacy Act provisions such as financial services.

I'll bet you can find one on ebay for a lot less than $160 though ;)

Alternatively, find an unused cardboard box, cut out the bottom and tape it to your monitor!

I wouldn't ever put a privacy or glare filter on my monitor, since they ALL reduce visibility and clarity... I don't want my experience lessened at all to stop someone else from taking a peek...

That said, I fucking HATE when people can see my monitor. Even if I'm doing nothing wrong and working, it just makes me anxious.

Since I've dealt with this for many many years, I'm just a vigilant alt-tabber.

To minimize all windows, press Windows-M (Shift-Windows-M undoes this).

HIPAA compliance measures are edging this type of protection (I mean direction *cough*) as well. Hell, with all of the damn shredding rules, the only thing you can find in my wastebasket are the wrappers of my poor dietary choices
