Nov 18 Panthers' running back Stephen Davis had microfracture surgery on Tuesday to repair his injured right knee, according to the Charlotte Observer. As part of the surgery, Davis had tiny holes punched into the bone that causes scar tissue to replace cartilage. He is hoping to return next season, but skeptics are questioning whether he will be able to return.
I wish him the best of luck. I had the same surgery and 2 years later I still have my knee collapse without warning, severe pain and I had to quit playing sports. 7 football players have had this surgery and on Deshaun Foster has come back, so likely we have seen his last game.

And unlike the NBA, NFL players don't have guaranteed contracts. This is bad news for him in so many ways.

And, even worse, he was my second round fantasy pick! :!:

Instead they have an insane signing bonus. In his case a 9 year 90.75 Million dollar contract including a 8 million dollar bonus before he was cut (he earned a total of 60 or so million off this contract) and then a 5 year 15.1 million contract that actually ended up, with the incentives to be worth closer to 36 million, he met them last year and went from 4.1 million to 7.9.

Guaranteed contracts are bullshit, if someone can't play for your team then they shouldn't get paid and certainly should not count against your cap. I think about the SF Giants in baseball this year spending 13% of the team salary on a closer that hadn't played in 2 freakin years, that's stupid and insane.
