Major packet loss since PoP install

Is anyone else getting major packet loss since installing PoP?

Nothing else has changed on the box. Assuming it doesn't crash directly to desktop I can only stay logged on for about 5 minutes then packet loss creeps up to 100% with the obvious result.

It's a PIII 750 w/384Mb and a 32Mb Geoforce 2 Ti if that matters...

The other 2 computers run fine.

I have been getting huge and seemingly random hits to my packetloss since PoP. I use /serverfilter on and /serverfilter off to mitigate it to some degree. I've heard from some people that /serverfilter is broken, but for me it does seem to work. But it is a big pain in the ass to keep turning it on and off as needed.

I had this horrid packet loss for 2 days after installing PoP, wasn't sure if it's my connection , computer or whatever so I reset my machine a few times, defragged and all that jazz. Didn't help.

On the third day everything was back to normal.

I'm still seeing wolves and warders in all the possible colors of rainbow though. I hear it's a cache problem though, probably not related to packet loss.

Yep, it's semi random for me, ran defrag, scandisk, looked at IRQs and all that stuff. Everything seems normal. I log my vendor gimp on after work, and if she doesn't LD during dinner I'll log the warrior on to dual box :o

If I turn off the cache, warders and doggy form chars go back to normal. If you delete the cache file it will correct itself, don't remember the file name though.

To re-cache all the game textures go to your EQ directory and delete all the *.txc files.

Not all of them only the texcache.txc

I think thats what i did and my textures are better now.

I had one for every zone I'd been in since that change went in.

There all gone now, we'll see what happens :)

Deleted the whole EQ directory and copied it over from my main comp, works fine now.

Something in the install was corrupted, and the thorough file check didn't catch it.
