Ok, so I just got off a 8hr flight, with 1 hour spent circling london and another 45mins sitting on the runway... there is no fucking place to smoke before you get your luggage and you should, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES tell the customs official that you are currently unemployed....

My fucking body thinks its like 6am.... Im sitting in a hostel that i cant get a bed in for another 2hrs or so... what time is it?.... the fucking shift key on these goddamn keyboards is too small...

so far im enjoying my trip emmensly... /rant off

Don't worry bud! You will adapt soon enough. Most folks have a tough time to adapting to 3rd world countries like England. :D

I liked Heathrow - but only cause it meant I was finally there!

Though I have to admit it took me a couple days to understand the "English" that English people speak.

Go order a snakebite-n-black!

Best Airport ever is Seoul-Incheon. It's immaculately clean, has hotels, and is bright and lively.

Worst Taipei
Best Singapore... nothing like having been on a plane for 20 hours, having to spend 3 hours in the moldy smelly hell that is taipei and stepping off into a modern airport, with real coffee and a sign that says SHOWERS... then after paying 2 bucks you step into one of those showers with like 50 nozzels... in my life... the best...shower...ever

Design wise I like the airport in Oslo, Norway. Nice, clean lines. Very modern yet not over the top. And they have gone to great extent to make it quiet. One major flaw though: The gates are not heated, so when you walk out of the plane and through the glass walkway during the winter you'll get a cold shock.

Worse airports in the US: Dallas/Ft. Worth (unless they did some work on it since I was last there) and Detroit. Detroit mostly because I spent 18 hours there each way.. yuck!

Detroit was ok when I was stopped there for 2 hours. They'd just finished the new terminal tho!

The only things about the Amsterdam airport I remember are the moving walkways and porn shops in the airport. I was 13, can you blame me? :)

Its been about 2 years since I was in Dallas/Ft Worth... but last time it wasnt too bad... then again I always flew in first class down there for business... so it was all good :)

Im going to be travelling by plane a good bit over the next few months in the EU... so Ill definately give updates on the personal hell that is most airports....

Oh, and Im flying out of Gatwick to Amsterdam... but I really dont know how to get there... any ideas? :)

I think there are trains from Central London to Gatwick, but I am sure a brit can shed more light on that.

Depends on where you go from. There is a direct connection between Heathrow and Gattwick I believe, and should be trains from central London as mentioned. Amsterdam airport.. expect a LOT of walking!

I believe that Schipol (Amsterdam) is under heavy rennovation right now, so expect a lot of walking and funny routes where you have to walk around the blocked off areas.

As to the trains question, there are trains from Gatwick in to London as well as a coach service, but Gatwick is in such a shitty remote location that getting anywhere takes ages. Heathrow is much closer to London (inside the M25).

Trains to Gatwick run approx every 15 minutes from Victoria Station.
If you're in London finding Victoria won't be hard.

Schipol has been under construction for as long as I can remember! I swear the workers spend more time smoking it up than working!

LAX is about as close to hell on earth as I can imagine. I'm a number of you here can testify to that!

Warsaw is bad too...but only because I spent untold hours there waiting on my plane, only have an engine changed on it upon its arrival. Once they got done, the weather went to shit, and I had to wait for that. I will say though that Lot Airlines has a fine crop of pilots...I've never taken off/landed in worse weather and had it be so damn smooth.

Halifax airport...I hate that one, die to the fact that whenever I go there, it seems to be during bad weather, making landing a hair-raising experience.

On the opposite side, the old airport in Oslo was the best ever. You would fly in low over the fjord and it would look like you would land on water because the runway literally started on a small island heh.
