Does the search for a cause make people stupid???

I'm seriously starting to think so...
God-mode confusion
A link between video games and a tarot death card found not far from where the sniper critically wounded a 13-year-old suburban Maryland student has upped the gamer buzz on sites such as GameSpot.
The words, "Dear Policeman, I am God," were reportedly scrawled on the card. Scrambling to discover their relevance, gamers and their critics suggested on the Internet that the sniper could be a video-game player because phrases referring to "God" can be found in several 3-D shooters.
"First-person action games on the PC often include a hidden feature called 'God Mode,' which makes the player invincible; this mode is toggled by entering a cheat code into the keyboard," said Geoff Keighley, editor-in-chief of GameSlice, a video-game industry Web site. "In the fantasy action game Drakan, you actually type in the words 'IAMGOD' into your keyboard to become invulnerable."

Yes, we all get our fucking video game cheats by calling Miss Cleo.

Yes, that's it exactly. I learned all I needed to know about how to kill people by jumping on Goombas in Super Marior Brothers. I am planning on dropping a couple feet and growing a black moustache, eatting nothing but lasagna, putting on another hundred pounds, and start eating magic mushrooms so I can score with the Princess who keeps getting humped by an overgrown goth reject of a mutant turtle.
GODS I wish people would think before comming up with such anal retentive bulldrek. Obviously the same f'ing idiots that think that couldn't figure out how to use a ballot box in florida, can't tell the difference between coke and pepsi, and who think that the touchy feely barney thing is the best television show to grace the planet.. if they can even commit the moral crime of owning a television because it will expose them to voilence, sex, and drugs.. just on the news.

Who the hell has heard of Drakan?
Surely they could have come up with a more obscure reference to modern day gaming!

I read today that some wal-marts are taking down all of their sniper related video games. sniper: path of vengence and silent scope 3 have been pulled off the shelves.
three aisles down in sporting goods you can pick up a 30.06 rifle with a 5x scope on it and a box of shells without even producing a driver's liscense.

yeah it is fairly ridiculous to pull video games off of shelves but not firearms.
i'm not saying removing firearms from the shelves is going to change anything necessarily, but the irony is almost unimaginable in this one.

Shit, if they did that in Northern Ireland the only fucking games we could play would be Tetris and Space Invaders (good games mark you).
I really hope these media hacks find the error of their ways and fall into a small ball of whimpering tears for ruining the lives of people who just want to play games.

Where can you do this?
In the US it is illegal to sell firearms to minors or felons. Vendors will require you to produce a driver's license (or some valid ID) and in the case of my state, you must submit to an instant background check that is processed by the state police. Go here for your own state
http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws.asp?FormMode=state
Additionaly, cities and counties can and do implement additional laws such as waiting periods.

It has ben a while since I bought a gun here in wisconsin but I think as long as you look older than 18 they will sell you one. At most they would require a driver's license. Trying to pass any tougher laws would have all the hunters out picketing big time.

I can buy a shotgun at Wal-Mart with no ID here in Michigan, home of the malitia.

I am definitely pro-gun, but I do find it ludicrous to sell weapons of any sort in a place like WalMart. Firearms should only be sold through licensed brokers who follow federal and state procedures and have proven to be competent. I would not have a problem with people being screened before being able to legally sell firearms (not counting collectors) and do believe there should be paperwork involved in selling personal firearms to any individual (even to and by collectors) in order to track weapons.

Perhaps they should start blaming the Bible as well. It contains many veiled references to this "God" character. In fact, he seems to think he is omnipotent and throughout the first part of the book he can be seen exacting his vengance on all types of people with little fear of retribution. At the very least I think a warning label should be added, but I'm really pushing for a full recall of this violent literature.

LOL Sylvus. What a crock of shit this whole thing is. A fucking video game helped the snipers who obviously couldn't afford a computer let alone a computer AND Drakan (wtf is Drakan). Freedom of press really should be looked at again in the constitution.
Someone please JACKASS Misi.

That's handguns, not firearms.
It's a state law anyway, not "in the US." I've never heard of a state that requires any sort of ID or waiting period to purchase a rifle.

I dunno about other states, but Illinois at least requires a Firearms Owners ID card, and a 3 day waiting period to buy a rifle, at least from a store selling guns, and handguns were a 1 week waiting period if I recall. This was back in 1977. Gun shows, if permitted in Illinois, may be a different matter, I dont know. I still have my old ID card stashed away somewhere, along with my old english firearms permit.

I scanned the state laws for about half the states.

I scanned the state laws for about half the states. Of the ones I saw only Vermont has no rules or laws about concealing even handguns, only as long as you do not intent to shoot someone you can carry one.
VERMONT:
"It is lawful to carry a firearm openly or concealed provided the firearm is not carried with the intent or avowed purpose of injuring a fellow man."
The rest are mostly standard, only concealing permits required, the midwest states allow handguns if carried openly. The good old west..

Hm...I think Im gonna move to Vermont...buy a handgun, and then go around pistol whipping people with it.
As for the reference to "god" that the sniper has made. "God" does kill a lot of people, hell, he drowned thousands, blew up some cities, used biological warfare agents to turn water into blood...think this "God" person is a terrorist too?

The very worst kind. He has a huge following too.
