I'm sure that each and every one of you know someone, perhaps a relative or friend, who's life has been affected by Cancer. I don't normally post/email this sort of thing, but it's a cause I believe in very strongly, especially after watching my best-friend's father die almost 5 years ago due to lung and lymphatic cancer.

I have also done some fairly extensive research regarding the Lance Armstrong foundation. Whatever you think of the man, his charity organization has been consistently rated near the top for charities that are managed well and make sure that the money they receive goes to the cause it's intended for.

My aunt has breast cancer, but she overcame it. My mom and stepdad are bound for lung cancer down the road here, as well.

Also just made the promise. Watching my father slowly and painfully pass away this year to lung cancer was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. It's amazing to me how widespread cancer is, I don't think I know anyone that hasn't been at least indirectly affected by cancer in one shape or form over the course of their lives.

I made a promise in the name of my best friend who died in 1991... at much too young of an age. We had known each other since preschool, he was the bassist in our band and truly one of the best people to be around and know. I've only played in one band, a small blues gig, since... once the chemistry is gone... I still carry his picture in my wallet to this day.

I made the promise. Cancer runs in my family. Last month my grandmother had surgery for breast cancer - which they thankfully caught before it spread. FYI October is breast cancer awareness month.

I made the promise too, I have already survived testicular cancer and lost a grandfather to colon cancer. It is a brutal disease. Thanks for posting this.

i made the Promise. i have seen to many family members and friends surcome to cancer of one type or anther.. Damn i didnt think just reading that would bring the emotions they did..

I made the promise also. Watching someone you love slowly die is the worst feeling i can think of. My grandfather had skin cancer about 4 years ago, it wasnt serious or anything and he was treated. Then about two years ago he was diagnosed with colon cancer that was operable, we were really happy when the procedure was successfull. Last year though the cancer came back and my pawpaw ( yea thats what I called him ) died Cancer is a terrible disease that in most cases is somewhat preventable, wear sunscreen and dont smoke!

I made the promise in the name of Allison Scott. A baby only 2.5 months older than my own that past away just a few weeks ago. I am also participating in Light the Night this Saturday evening as a fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma awareness. This is something I'm extremely passionate about. I've sobbed so much lately with the passing of this little girl...one who I didn't even know. I can't imagine the extreme pain of losing a loved one to this.

I made the promise as well.

My father died of cancer when I was 7 years old.

My wife's grandmother (67 years), grandfather (71 years), and uncle (42 years) all died of cancer within 18 months of each other (Dec 2000 through end of May 2001).

Cancer is a horrible disease that affects everyone from babies to the elderly. I remember watching my father go from a strong, happy man...losing his hair...getting sick...and eventually dying in a hospital bed weighing hardly anything. I would gladly do anything to help put an end to this awful disease.

I had previously made the promise in honor of both grandfathers and my gf's dad, all of whom I lost to cancer. I wear my Livestrong bracelet in their memories as well.

Made the promise in honor of my grandmother who I never knew because she died of lung cancer when I was 1. Also in honor of my aunt who had breast cancer and is an example that with research and dedication, the fight agaisnt cancer can be won.

Since the site won't accept non-US residents, I made the promise to myself in the name of my Dad who died to brain cancer two and a half years ago, my mom's twin sister and my favorite aunt who died of brain cancer 5 years ago and in the name of my grandmother who died 8 years ago to cancer in too many places to mention.

same deal, uncle died of colon cancer two years ago as did both of my grandparents on my dads side, and most of my great grandparents on both sides, have had two aunts who have overcome it, so chances are with this trend, cancer will one day be the cause of my own death unless we can overcome the plague
