What did you think of last night's Mets lineup? While there wasn't a whole lot of juice after 1, it was pretty cool seeing Reyes, Matsui, Wright, skip, Diaz in the order and in that order. Good seeing the batting portion of the future still intact

Despite his injuries, Reyes is probably one of the most exciting players I have seen in years. Seeing him back at SS made me very happy. Also, Kaz looked pretty good at second. I cannot say enough about Wright, this kid is for real.
Yeah, it has been nice to see the 2005 lineup give or take. They have some fantastic young players and can really have a good 2005 if they mix in some good veterans. With the new VP-Ops/GM, much is to be determined as far as Piazza, Leiter, Glavin and Benson--but there is a chance at a solid lineup IMO as long as the Mets admin can build around these young players and inject the right veterans to instruct them.
Keep the veteran pitchers, deal Floyd and Hidalgo. Get a prospect catcher and they are set.
Oh yeah, find some way to remain healthy...

Lets not forget the most important thing for them to make the playoffs......moving out of the Braves' division.

Funny, but I can't disagree. Braves have a rep of getting the best of the low-life NL East, but very little else to show for it.
But hey, the Mets will be interesting next year so long as the health bug doesn't get them. I really think the Kazmir ordeal was a huge mistake but it doesn't take an expert baseball fan to recognize that. However, short of that, a good young lineup is emerging.
If the Mets have any balls, they'll option out of Leiter's contract to pick him up for far under 10 mil. He fucking kills the bullpen, and that's not the team's strong suit by any stretch of the imagination. I get the impression you like him Cane, so I won't rail on him too hard, but a Mets club w/out Leiter and Franco is a better club, hands down.

Don't get that impression... As much as I would like Leiter to succeed... the guy is done...he has always been a workhorse..but 100 pitches through 5 innings of work? Hell no, it just can't do.
The only "old-timer" worth keeping is Benson IMO...at least for 2-3 years..
As far as the rest...time to build anew. They have some great talent from the kids....the Mets brass have tried the veteran way and failed....badly
Deal Piazza, Floyd, Trashcel, Glavine and Leiter for some minor-league talent....
TALENT...that is the key....
