Anti flood controlls

Any way to reduce the time ammount on the spam controlls? Very annoying to make a post, and then read and respond to another post before the spam counter expires.. it wipes the message out and makes me sit on my thumbs for a couple min. Even more annoying is when I see a problem with a post after I hit the submit key, and then edit, fix it, submit again, then losing the changes because "I cannot make another post so soon after my last one."
It's annoying, and while a nice safety feature.. could ya tone it down some? Haven't really noticed it except within the last week or two.
