Just got handed a plantronics DSP400 headset w/mic to get in on the initial testing in our VoIP project here at work.

I really like this headset. Nice sound options and sound. Haven't tested the mic yet, but I'm betting I will when I get home.

Downloaded a 150mb file for software. I'm waiting on the guys that administer the call manager to get me setup in the CTI so I can play with it. We've got five different IP handsets to play with and the softphones. It's looking pretty cool so far. Good voice quality and we don't even have QoS turned on everywhere yet. We figure we'll have to crank the bandwidth down to 8k per call as we roll this out but right now we are going with 32k.

Anyone out there already using VoIP in a corporate environment? We will be doing a rollout to over 5k folks eventually.

I only use VoIP at home, but I must say I quite enjoy it. I don't even have my normal home phone plugged in anymore because I have it plugged in to my DTA for the VoIP.

pilot is restricted to internal calls for right now. I'm trying to find out when we will be able to receive/make outside calls.

Nice thing about the softphone is once your desk number is setup in the call manager, as long as my laptop has an internet connection i can answer calls from anywhere to my desk.

"Yah, boss I can take care of that right away. Let me just finish cranking in this bass...."

I had a similar headset that I used with an Avaya Softphone software connected to my office's PBX. I could hear people fine, but with limited up-bandwidth at home over VPN, I was often broken up.

I changed the set up so that if I get a call in my office, it rings my phone at home -- still using the softphone software so I have full control of putting calls on hold, conferencing, transfering, hanging up, etc. as I do if I'm in my office.
