chlorine, sugar and water works as well, and the reaction isn't as fast

What a bunch of fucking idiots, the gas compression in that bottle from shaking would be huge (as was shown). I work as a pool boy and I've always wanted to take a bucket of chlorine + baking soda, fill with water and stir then put the top back on and let it sit in a field. I've had some friends do something similar with gatorade and liquid drain-o, I think.
