Network Intrusion at <GASP!> Axciom

Federal authorities yesterday charged an online advertiser in Florida with tapping into the computer system of a large database marketer in Arkansas and stealing "vast amounts of personal information" about Americans in what they described as one of the largest network intrusions in recent memory.

We host a fair chuck of Acxiom's data and deal with them daily. This guy is also just down the road from us, so this has been office gossip for some time now.

Acxiom was less than amused, but in the direct marketing and list management industry stealing data to build your own compiled list isn't that unusual sadly. This business is full of crooks, cons, and former user car salesmen.

I know the guys who are handling most of their security.

Good think I'm out of town or we'd be taking them out for beers just to fuck with them over poor security:)
