New Thread Preview Function

We added a little thread preview function, so if you hover your mouse over the title of a thread, it should show you the first couple hundred characters of the first post in that thread. I have no idea if it works in other browsers other than IE, but then again I really don't give a shit.
It probably will also circumvent the ignore function, but you don't have to mouse over the threads posted by people you don't like.
Enjoy!

I'm currently breaking and fixing the boards, so if something funny happens, just hold on a second and I'll fix it.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Nice addition sylvus! I've been reading some other boards with this and it's been useful.
"Wow...just wow" message titled threads can be revealed before a wasted click is executed!

Nice feature, but mandatory sub-silver and lack of VVs still makes me a sad panda.

Yeah, just sucks having to update themes every time phpBB releases a new version of the software.

Don't they have any pre-made themes?
Posted: July 20, 2004, 5:42 pm
by Sylvus
Yeah they do, but for every mod we install, you have to replicate the work on all installed themes. Not to mention when they release security fixes and whatnot, they only tell you what you need to change, and then you go into the different themes to make the changes.
We'll be adding themes at some point, I was mostly just waiting until we got the VVs mod installed. And as far as that goes, I'm waiting on a couple of mods to be upgraded to the next version. All of that will be back sometime soon.

In IE
1. go to favorites menu
2. select organize favorites
3. find the link for Veeshan Vault
4. highlight it
5. hit delete
6. close then reopen IE

Is the mouse over pop up time the window stays open determined server side or by the client?

technically it's determined by god, but he allows us the free will to adjust it on the client side.

The popup time has to be determined client side. That said, I think you'd have to modify a registry entry to change it, and it wouldn't be a change that only affected this site.

Perhaps it's coincidence, but Avant's mouse shortcut to open links in a new window no longer works quite right with VV. The link still opens in a new window, but now the current window also follows the link.
Of course, if this is a top sekret trick to double the number of hits on this site (from all the <back> button clicking I now have to do) then carry on!

I do the same. Now you have to right click the link and open in a new window.

Going to repeat the question.. any way to shut this off?
It's cool and all, and I appericate the effort put into the mods to make the board better.. but it's annoying me, or more specifically, the mouse over cell change color thing is annoying me.
I don't want to sound ungrateful, but is it possible to change this in any form?

by Sylvus
The mouse over cell change color thing is just javascript, turning javascript off would probably stop it from happening. I don't know if there are any clients that allow you to turn off javascript on a site-by-site basis.
I thought it made it snappier and more user-friendly, I guess I could make a poll and see what other people think.

The people who don't like the new features are still using non-iodized salt, leaded gasoline, and churning their butter by hand.
Progress is unfair to some!

Shift click should work again, however you'll have to shift-click on the words of the link, as you did before.

I like this better. I don't like opening the thread unless I click on the actual text anyway. The highlighting of the entire box is nice but limiting opening the thread to clicking on the text seems to work best.

I'll further elabortaete! As has been said, the issue of clicking to make IE the active window sSUCKS! but also ACCIDENTLY hovering over a topic of someone you have on ignore and absolutely do NOT want to see their posts sucks. Not that anyone here falls under that category! Mmmhmm! Take note, Mr. Stragi, I said accidently, so take your no-good-reason-to-be-talking-shit-about-anyone ass and step off.

YOU AHVE HURT MY FEESLING IN DUR DRUNKEN FI T OF EXPRESSION
I WILL EXPRESS MY HURT IN SONG:
You want to take her place
You say you'd treat me better
But, better I know for sure
You see she loves me
And I could never leave her (ooh yeah)
(Never baby, never)
She means the world to me
And I live for her
(Chica tu cres me vida la ternuda)
She's my destiny I know
(Y alegria amor)
Forever my love
(Y est sueno)
And I'll never let her go (oh no)
(Contigo sera verda) (yeah yeah)
Dream on... Dream away
I think I'm gonna have to stay
Stay forever
Chorus
I adore... mi amor
I adore... mi amor
Listen... my love, the girl of my dreams
And I will never leave
She's all that I need and more
I'll love her always
What more could a man ask for
(What more could I ask for)
You know that I really love my baby
She can give me everything I need
There is no one to take her place
She's got my heart in her hands
Baby, I adore
Dream on... dream away
I think I'm gonna have to stay
Stay forever
