smoker help

Post by Swiiter »

Weather in Houston sucks. Babysitting a piece of crap smoker for 12 hours in 100 degree weather is driving me nuts so i've come to the conclusion that i need a new smoker. anyone got any recommendations? i have a nice gas grill already, but i need a good smoker since the one i have is pretty small and tends to not regulate heat well. i also hate having to check on it every 30 min. i'm really looking for something that's relatively easy to clean, maintains heat well and can accommodate a 15 pound brisket as well as a couple of slabs of ribs. i'm also not a rich person so i'm looking for something <$400.

Also what are the pros and cons of a box smoker and an offset?

Thanks a bunch!

I have one, I reinforced the welds all the way around as a precaution (not necessary probably but a good idea imo) and it truely kicks some serious butt. I promise you will love it.

To be honest box or offest are really not an issue unless the offset has horrible airflow.
