Arthur
Well, I thought it would be a lot cooler than it was. But Keira Knightly is still hot. Arthur had poor acting and character development IMO. I don't have much to say about it so others can have at it...

She also had special effect, props department enhanced breasts in Arthur. It takes a lot of fancy camera work but she looks good on film.Kelshara wrote:I don't get the raving about Keira.. she was beautiful in Pirates of the Caribean, but when I saw the shots of her afterwards I lost all interest. I read the adaptation of this screenplay, primarily because I am interested in all things Arthurian. I was very curious how they were going to handle the "real" story. The book read like a screenplay. It was very predictable.
I have mixed feelings about seeing the movie. On the one hand, I want to see if the movie was just like the book. On the other hand, I was pretty disappointed in the entire story. It certainly was not where I would have taken the story. There is a ton of historical evidence on Arthur. Much of it points to this time frame of the movie, however, there was so much that seems inconsistent with the historical evidence and theories out there.
Just don't tell me there is a car chase in this movie or a bomb that blows up like in the other Bruckheimer films.

I know I'm good at what I do, but I know I'm not the best.
But I guess that on the other hand, I could be like the rest.

Very mediocre. Only had a couple of good lines the entire movie through.
I was not very impressed, but, Knightly made up *most* of the ticket cost in the final fight near the end.

No, she has a point, and Lalanae has pointed it out before too. A woman's name can't be mentioned on this board without you pulling a quickdraw to write up everything that is wrong with that woman.Kelshara wrote:Sad thing is, Kyou is pretty much at the same level as Cartalas. Plenty of women are attractive (including some who frequent this board). However, anorexic ones are not.No, she has a point, and Lalanae has pointed it out before too. Hollywood pretty much only casts hot chicks, unless it is for a role that is decidedly un-hot (when they usually still use a hot chick and use makeup to make her less hot). I think you're in the minority most of the time that you're criticizing a woman's attractiveness.
I think the real point was that you're an anyonymous internet user and online gamer who often casts aspersions at people whose main job requirment is their physical appeal, when in all reality there is a pretty solid chance that you are not qualified to judge others. I don't know though, maybe you're dating Christy Turlington.

I can understand that, I have also said I consider her face fairly attractive. However, I don't find her body attractive at all.. and I also really dislike the preassure that so many women feel that they have to be "perfect". It's the same dislike I got for back a few years ago when some female singers had "body doubles" because they were not deemed attractive enough to go along with their great voices. It is ridiculous imho.
I could list a bunch of famous Hollywood women I find highly attractive though heh, I guess I just don't understand how people find bones poking out to be "perfect".

I actually enjoyed this movie. Yeah, Arthur was pretty goofy. I thought Kiera was stunning in the film and is perhaps its only salvation aside from some nifty battle scenes. Wow, she looks a bit malnurished in that one photo, but she always seemed more lithe than anything--perhaps she had lost some weight to fit the role? I dunno, I just think she has one of the loveliest faces I have ever seen.

Re: Arthur
This movie started out...ok. Some nice scenery shots and the premise of the legend of Arthur taking place in medieval times instead of 400-500 years laters was interesting to begin with.
By the end of the 2:24 minute movie, I was pissed at having wasted time watching it.
Some really bad things about this movie:
Keira Knightly
We first see her in a dungeon, near death, with a mangled hand. Within a day or two, she's firing arrows like she's the second coming of Robin Hood, and by the end of the movie, she's painted blue and is made out to be such a badass fighter that 10 Braveheart's wouldn't stand a chance against her.
Her character had an incredibly annoying, over the top, accent...trying way too hard to sound old school British I guess.
Merlin
Never really a part of the movie in any significant way. He was thrown in because they needed to make the movie seem like ti was based on the legend of Arthur. There are some ridiculous close up scenes of him near the end of the movie showing his battle face, but he really does jack shit in the movie although I think he's supposed to be the leader of the blue people.
The Battles
Atrociously bad. More blood squirting around doesn't make for a better battle scene.
The frozen lake "cracking ice" scene was more comedy than anything else.
The last battle took for-fucking-ever.
----
I checked this movie out because "Titus Pullo" of Rome was one of the knights but he played no real part in the movie, died early, and his only scene was the goofy part where he uses his Axe to somehow cause the entire lake's ice to crack and break.
This movie was dumb.
2/10 (2 being some nice scenery shots)
