exactly, you're fucking retarded, and if we could restrict you to only that forum, we would...but that would take way too much work to code.

Actually, my response was because that statement is retarded. I could list 500 vocalists who could / can kick Eddie Vedder's ass as far as vocal quality and expression is concerned.
I have no comments on your personal level of retardation.

Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Bono, David Bowie, Sting, Prince, Thom Yorke, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Jeff Buckley, just to mention the first 10 that came to mind.
Want more?
Tammy Wynette, Lisa Nilsson, Johnny Adams, Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Al Jarreau, Ben Harper, Bill Withers, Bob Marley (yes), EmmyLou Harris, Elvis Costello, Curtis Mayfield, Rickie Lee Jones, George Benson, Jaguar Wright, Angie Stone, James Carr, Otis Redding, Ian Gillan, Murray Head, Barry Dennen, Elaine Paige, Randi Laubek, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ro Johnson...
Just in my opinion, of course.

Don't get me wrong, I love Pearl Jam, and I love Eddie Vedder...but even he would argue with you

Eddie is interesting to listen to, but he always looks like hes forcing out a big shit when he is singing. He is deffinitely the most talented vocalist of the grunge bands, though, I will give him that. But he doesn't have any kind of depth to his style, its all the same kind of forced thing with him. When I think of great singers, I mostly consider people who can deliver a clear solid sound and do multiple styles of music, people like Cindi Lauper, Freddy Mercury, Sting, Steve Perry, Janis Joplin, or Peter Gabriel. Eddie is very good at what he sings, but hes essentially a one trick pony, vocally.

Some more random vocalists that are better than Veder:
Andrea Bocelli, Nat King Cole, Chris Martin, Roger Daltry, David Gilmore, Roger Waters, Art Garfunkle...
Just FYI, I LOVE Pearl Jam. Ive lived all of my life in Seattle and loved every minute of the Grunge era and they are one of my alltime favorite rock bands. I love Eddie Veder's voice because it carries a lot of emotion, however he's nowhere near the best.

pardon me for not having an original title for a topic.
i see a lot of talented names above. lots of talent.
but why isn't Eddie Vedder among them?

It'd be impossible to try to say who the best vocalist is. You'd have to group it in music styles.. then you'd also have to go for best because of range, of talent, of listenability, which? I'd say Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach and especially Tony Harnel (of TNT) blow Veder away in range and there's a lot of people (Remember Steel Heart?) who blow even them away in range. Eddie is good for what he does though. Hell, even Xtina has a voice that blows Eddie away, as does Mariah Carey (bleh). But if you're talking just grunge with Vedder, Cornell blows him away easily and is much more enjoyable to listen to. Without range, I'd still rather listen to Corabi than Vedder for example. (Corabi with Motley Crue was great)
Just opinion of course.
