Anyone playing Far Cry? I would have to say it's the best FPS I've played since the original Half Life. Like, obviously it is ligh years beyond HL graphics/game play wise, but I mean in the overall feel of the game. Like, for a while every FPS that came out just felt ho-hum, run of the mill. Then Half Life came out and was a step of from anything that came before it. That's how I feel about Far Cry. It drew me in immediately, the game is super fun. Best graphics in a FPS to date.

I actually like the game so much I went out and BOUGHT it

I haven't even played it online yet, just going through single player mode during non-EQ time. Sure it's just a FPS, but it's damn sweet :)

I tried the 'life' game....er should say still trying.

Quit eq, downloaded like 1 gazillion games off bittorrent, realized there were only 4 types of games, played about ....4 games, got bored, started dating somebody at work and getting married in 4 months.

Do I miss games...sometimes, do I miss games more than I enjoy my relationship, not even close.

That said, I've picked up my lego, dragon, wizard, and harley collecting!

Multi-player is kinda sucky still I think. Lots of lag complaints. They've implemented punkbusters in the 1.01 patch so that should cut down on the cheaters. Still the standard variety though: capture the flag, blah blah. I'd like to see more objective-based missions like Wolfenstein:ET has. Hopefully there will be mods that will try tackling that.

My only real complaint about FarCry is that its difficulty level doesn't seem to scale with what you pick. And the save game system can get frustrating if you suck at those type of games like I do. Oh and they seem to have a bit too many indoor levels. Outdoors is where the engine and AI shine. Indoors they're pretty dumb and you can just throw rocks to make them file through the doors to their death. Although sometimes they sneak around behind you if there is more than one doorway which I thought was pretty cool. And finally on my list of complaints, the whole Trigen storyline. I could have done without that.

Other than that not playing much else at the moment. Took the week off last week of game playing to get taxes and stuff done. Fired up Mame a few times to update the roms to .81.

I caved in and bought an xbox (thanks gamestop refurbished systems $130!) and kotor, rented vice city since I didnt have it on playstation. So far I havent really noticed graphics far beyond ps2. Kotor is a wierd ass game, It almost feels like the leveling is dragged from d2 but with more options.

They are nearly as good as new, why spend an extra 20?

Still playing life until WoW comes out. But I am ahead of schedule.

Feb 7 2003 - quit eq.
April 14, 2003 started college
December 17, 2003 completed BS degree
March 2004 Bought my new 2100 SF dream house
Tomorrow - take delivery of my new samsung 61" DLP HDTV and THX certified 7.1 Home theater system

I plan on watching lots of DVD's and sports till WoW comes out. I am ahead of schedule so after my next contract runs out I may pare the 3 jobs down to just 1 job and school (working on my masters degree)

I still miss playing though. The only thing I have done is replaced my addiction to EQ with an addiction to money and toys. I will be back to the MMORPG realm soon enough.

At the moment I'm playing "move heavy boxes of shit into the new house" but when that gets boring I unwind with a few rounds of "paint some fucking walls".

I'm never moving again.
