You know, Shaerra's comments about the man topless pics makes me think of Chris Farley in Billy Madison.

Then Hapkido it is...I don't know much about the style but if it has soem nice grappling and punches, sounds like a win...

I plan on getting back into martial arts when my ankle feels 100% I tore all the ligaments last spring, it's fine to walk on, I can do calf raises and such NP haven't done more then 250 lbs yet though, the machine only has 25 bricks....the side to side motion feels weak, I'm afraid to reinjure it too soon....don't worry it wasn't torn in martial arts, freak accident....

But I still need to stay away from grappling because the neck injury will never heal.

Getting old sucks, the injuries just pile up.

Stick to Shorin Ryu bro, Hapkido is a LOT of grappling.
On a side note, my best friend practices Shorin Ryu, god his hits fucking hurt ;)

3rd degree black in Tae Kwon Do here. As it was mentioned the chops, kicks and blocks that you seem to do endlessly for the first lessons do lead up to more things.

In Tae Kwon Do we have routines that we test for the "degrees" and "belts" called Chon-Ji. Tae Kwon Do is also about the triad which is the mind, body and spirit. The art form is fairly easy if you are a dedicated student and want to learn.

I wasn't sayign hapkido for me, I was saying for Xzion.

I don't know if I will continue in Shorin Ryu or not when I restart, I think I might because it's faily low impact on ankles and necks....but I forgot all my kattas.

I was in Kung Fu for a few years, but it was a highly americanized club, not what I was looking for. The only good thing about it was that it was a good workout, other than that, never learned a real lot I couldn't have learned on my own.

No. No. That was Hoo Flung Poo you were in!

Tae Kwon Do for me when I was young. I didn't get too far but I did observe two women sparring while I was there and a vicious crotch shot kick during the fight which made the experience memorable.

For some reason, I still remember the first "Kata" or test for the yellow belt. If you want to see something funnier than that guy in the Star Wars movie going around the vault, watch me do it at the next FF!

During my Jiu Jitsu run, my sensei recruited some of the bigger guys in the class to be whacking dummies for those female self defence classes. They were shy at first, not wanting to hurt us. Sensei got rather annoyed and used me to show em how to do it right.

I think he used us cause he didn't want the dummies to have any padding to really simulate the street environment. We had to really grab them and be rough about it then they were to do the techniques without holding back. Hella painful but OH SO MUCH FUN!! I'd do it again in a second.
