Mmmm, foooooooood.

I would have to say yes, money can buy you happiness but like everyone has said it depends on the type of person you are.

IT'S A TRICK QUESTION

HAPPINESS = NOT TANGIBLE = CANNOT BE SOLD

ANSWER = NO

MONEY ONLY BUYS THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY

LITERAL SENSE = MONEY CAN'T "BUY" (<---W@W L@@K KEY WORD HERE) HAPPINESS

MONEY CREATES HAPPINESS INDIRECTLY

END OF THREAD.

Money can buy happiness. It can't always buy happiness. The question is not in the form of an absolute yes or no. It still comes down to the individual. You can't buy someone elses happiness because you can't totally control what they feel.

If happiness means being with a specific individual and they hate you, all the money in the world possibly might not buy you happiness. If you're the elephant man and want brittney spears to be your love slave, say goodbye to your happiness.

IF you understand the limitations of what money can buy and you have the intelligence to know how to use the money, then you can certainly buy yourself happiness. It's not guarantee as there are several other factors involved, most importantly being relationships.

A bottle of booze, the beach, and food scraps out of a trashcan might also make someone happy.

Consider this...

Can money buy good health? Of course not. Are you more likely to be healthy if you have the money to pay the doctor to remove that malignant growth on your testicles? Yup.

Once more, for the slower minds in the audience.

Can money but good health? No.

Does having a lot of money have an indirect but significant relationship with your health? Yes.

Same applies with happiness. Money CAN'T BUY IT, but it shares an indirect proportional relationship with it. Honestly, I'm not sure I can spell it out much simpler than this.

I just got this little tid-bit from my email-forwarding-spamming Uncle, interestingly enough on the topic of Money buying Happiness:

MONEY

The poll results show YES > NO cos everyone basically wants money, and lots of it. We sure aint gonna turn it down.
Even if its just to make sure your health care costs are covered, your mortgage is paid, and your family has a nice safe place to live.
These days when rent is sky high, car payments and insurance will break you, and the average salary wont keep up with inflation lots of money would sure decrease the amount of stress of just trying to keep your head above water and make you comfortable.

You don't think so?

My post contains the answer to the proposed question. What more is there left to debate? Tell me what part you're struggling with and I will do my best to metaphorically beat you over the head with the same irrefutable facts I've been giving you since post #1 on this thread.

I make money. I bought things that made me happy. Debate over. The question was can money buy happiness, not can it buy happiness for you.

Saying you can buy a bed but can't buy sleep, etc is BS. You can buy a bed and you can buy someone to handle anything that is preventing you from sleeping. Again, it all depends...If you like to snort coke and party till dawn then you need to make some decisions on what makes you happier...sleep or partying.

Best answer to this question is "depends"

I think an easier question to answer is "Can you buy real love?" You can buy fake love easy enough. There are plenty of women and men who fake love for the ability to enjoy a better lifestyle with a less than optimal partner.

Well I don't believe that shit that was spammed in my email - I am a firm believer of money buying happiness. I just thought it funny that I read this thread, then saw that in my email immediately after. A weird sort of Irony.

Exactly. You bought something that made you happy. You didn't buy happiness. Happiness is a state of mind. You used money to buy something tangible that made you happy.

Still don't understand? Read my post using health as an analogy.

Still don't understand? Read Sirensa's list of tangible vs. intangible things money can and cannot get you.

Dude, you're using my own tactics against me. That's my gig.

If you're going to fag out and keep getting technical then you can debate it till dawn. Money "bought" me happiness.

Idiot...nowhere does it say here that money itself makes you happy...the question was essentially, can you buy other things that make you happy. Yes. Once you get your head out of your ass and see that the question wasnt if money itself could make you happy then come back and apologize to me for making me type an extra post.

Well you could also take that further by asking "Can money buy true friends?" I have to say the answer is no. Which then begs, how happy can you really be with no real friends, and/or no real love?

If you are the type of person that relies on possessions to be happy, then more mony can make you happy for awhile. But, I still think if given long enough you'll come to the point that you will have already bought everything that you want, and then what is left? Money can buy you stuff, and that stuff can make you happy for awhile, but eventually the happy wears off and you have to go buy something else. So, I don't think money can buy true happiness, I think that comes from within, and the connections you share with other people.

People that know me will probably think it is funny to hear me say that. Hehe.

Money can't be happiness, but the lack of it can make you miserable. There is a distinct difference in those two states. Having enough money to live allows you to pursue happiness, more money doesn't really give you any reasonable chance of reaching it.

I know miserable millionaires, so it can't buy happiness. But, until you've had the oppurtunity to attempt to buy it and been unable to, you won't belive that.

Sirensa and Lalanae are totally fuckin right, so I give mad props to mah girls. There are lots of things I could buy for my self to make me happy for a short time like a big house and a phat car and some hot ho's (already got too many of those), a 80 inch plasma TV in every room and the phatest computer set up you ever saw in your life. But in the end all this shit can’t KEEP you happy. People think that they can just buy and buy and buy to make themselves the happiest motherfuckers on the earth. This bullshit just aint true because in the end, no matter who you are you can't find fucking happiness in expensive fucking department stores or any kind of crap like that.

But like I said before, if you are unhappy without a lot of money then you will be unhappy with a lot of money. Money can only buy happiness in the short term. Because even if you are able to buy your way out of debit and buy everything you have always wanted sooner or later you are gunna end up right back where you started, which is unhappy.

If you are happy without a lot of money then more money is just an added bonus.

Sorry Ravvenn but you are 100% wrong. =\ (I still lova ya tho hehe)

If I was unhappy with my new house I would go buy a house that made me happy. Along the way I might find a few hotties to ride in my lear jet and make some other parts of me happy. After awhile I might hop over to paris and make my palate happy. Then I might buy a company and make my friends happy. Just for Fun I could go buy a F1 race car and make my foot happy. Drive it down I-5 at 220 and make the local police happy. But first I would buy all my friends and relatives a new house that makes them happy.

Would be kinda tough to find time for unhappiness

I agree that money can buy your way out of an unhappy deal. Yes money can buy instant gratification , hell $50 at the tity bar will make Almost any man (and some gals) Very happy. When you leave though is the question.
I voted No , but thats me , I have never been well off, and yes when I wasnt as finnancially strapped I could be a little less worried , but I wouldnt call it happy. The question is one that will go on forever with no real answer , like the Chicken Or the Egg, Abortion vs a womans right, etc etc ... some things in life are Free and they make you happy , some cost a little or a lot. Just all depends on the day and the circumstance.

The girls from Tatu aren't real lesbians; they just pretend to be in order to boost their popularity and sell records. :(

Hell no money cant buy happiness. I grew up in a wealthy backround and knew many riduculously rich people, they dont know there RL friends are anymore, everyone kisses there ass and they have to work so hard to maintain a level of "high class".Once you have it, it isnt all its made up to be.

There sure isnt anything "wrong" with money. But its your personal state of mind and prioritys wich gives you happiness, and if one of your primorities is working hard in order to make a lot of money then you will be a miserable basterd, and knowing who are your friends etc and who are those that are trying to use you.

If they made me happy enough I am sure for the right amount of money, I could take em all home with me and be happy for quite awhile =)

I guess the way to answer the question is to ask yourself this. Name one thing in this life thats free, and you will have your answer

PS Air is not free. A certain part of your taxes goes to making sure that we can breathe hence it costs money to breathe.

Love is not free. Sooner or later you lovebirds gotta come up for air and pay the rent. Love is the most expensive thing on the earth. It costs a part of yourself, that can never be returned

I'm a simple man Millie...

I don't ask for a lot. I was happy in my belief that those two very hot girls are lesbians and spend the majority of their time tangled up in some sweaty hot european variation of the advanced black bee... but I guess that was just asking too much from you, wasn't it?
