Irregardless is only becoming valid because people are too stupid not to use it. When a word is wrong, and is used enough, it becomes right. The lexicon being a living thing and such.

It makes no sense as a word. The "Ir" prefix implies negation. Irrational means not rational. Irrespective means not respective. Irregardless should mean not regardless or regard...ful?

Stop using it!
EXACTLY!!! This is one of the most irritating things to me in modern language... right next to the fucking dinosaurs who say that texting/IMs/email is responsible for the death of the language because of the acronyms in use. Its like these people never read a news report dealing with anything to do with the gov't or military (and various corporate and technical publications).

And Cannolizzerd, the reason you don't like sports fans talking in the first person is because the teams you cheer for are all too weak to encourage fans to make an emotional investment!!!

I want to hit people that substitute the word "mental" for crazy, stupid, retarded, etc.

"Are you mental?"
"Why, yes, I consider myself cerebral."

Yes, people who actually say the letters rather than just the words. It makes me want to punch them with an English dictionary.
I have to add another one I heard this weekend..

Stooo Foooo

IE - STFU said as a word.

I believe someone already mentioned - "hella".

I hella hate that word.

And even worse... axe. As in, let me axe you something. For some reason, this really gets to me.

I hate that shit too. I'll be sitting on the couch, knitting & watching a movie and Eric comes in and asks "What are you doing?" I hate being asked what I'm doing when it's pretty fucking obvious what I'm doing.

Another thing that annoys me is when people ask you what you are watching when you mention you are watching TV or a movie. Even worse is when someone asks Eric what I'm doing (online or phone) and when he says "watching TV or a movie" they ask him what I'm watching. Why do they need to know? Eric always asks me what I'm watching even though 99% of the time it's nothing he's ever heard of and its not like he's asking because he's interested in watching it. Don't waste my time asking me what I'm watching (or worse what's going on in a movie/show) when you really have no interest in that information.

So yeah, people who ask questions when (1) the answer is obvious (2) the answer means jack shit to them, piss me off. I think people like that talk just to talk.
