I can't put my finger on one occasion a piece of droppable loot from the guild bank was equipped on someone. (new cazic group loots excepted)
If you're awarded an upgrade, and it's no drop, no one cares. If it's droppable, you might hafta give it back? Are you joking? Just pretend every piece of loot is no drop. Keep your members by having a great guild atmosphere and leadership, and you won't need to invoke policies that lessen the hurt caused by extreme turnover.

bunch of fucking commies in this thread talking about community property and seizing back personal belongings for the betterment of society as a whole.
it's hilarious because most of the people on this thread yapping about it are a bunch of wanna-be right wing conservatives up until it comes to maybe getting a piece of virtual loot they might need from an ex-guildmate.

"Your house is nodrop loot, the 2.54 etc is company loot and you dont get to keep it." Its an idea worthy of some thought. However, that only works if everyone recieves equal compensation in nodrop loot according to their contribution, and all dropable loot is issued on top of that to best benefit the guild. If thats not the case, if a droppable item is counted against them when distributing nodrop loot, then theyre being ripped off.
As an example- 2 wizards and their guild go do the ring of slime in CT while waiting for people to log on and a slime robe drops, which is not nodrop. People log on and they head for Yelinak who also obligingly drops a robe, but this one is nodrop. The two robes are judged as being pretty similar in value, and one wizard gets one, the second wizard gets the other. Everyone is happy so far. Later on a similar pair of kills occurs, this time resulting in 2 pairs of equal-value pants, one droppable and one nodrop. The Loot-Boss says well you both got robes, thats about equal so I'll just randomly assign them to you two. As it happens the wizard with the yelinak robe gets the nodrop pants. Sometime later both wizards leave the guild. The wizard with the nodrop pants and yelinak robe walks off into the sunset, but the wizard with the slime robe and droppable pants is forced to give them back and walk off shirtless and pantless, and either has to put on old junk gear or find the means to replace them out of his own pocket. Both wizards contributed equally to the guild, but the wizard who was given the droppable gear was blatantly screwed over unless he recieved some other compensation that the first wizard did not.
The obvious corrolary to that would be that while unless otherwise compensated the second wizard would own his robe and pants free and clear, he would be expected to return the droppable gear to the guild when it got upgraded, otherwise he would wind up with his new robe and pants, AND the sale price of the old ones, which would be unfair to the first wizard.
So my point would be, if a guild expects droppable gear returned upon departure it should not be included as part of the issue-ees share of loot. If it IS counted as part of their share of loot then its theirs till they get an upgrade.
*Hugs*

Loot is not compensation. You have loot to improve the guild. Your compensation is the privelege and experience of going places and doing things you can't do by yourself.
Just remember, when you look back at this game 10 years from now you won't remember the loot, you'll remember the experiences.

How about this: every piece of droppable shit should be sold in the bazaar and the proceeds divvied up among those who were there. Now is there anymore stupid statements about this???

I know I can't think of a more stupid statement than yours, Wulf.

hehe - you made me chuckle there Wulf
How about this - make sure you know how loot is handed out and rather its considered yours or on loan from the guild before you join a guild. There isnt any right or wrong way to deal with the loot issue. Just make sure your in a guild that deals with loot in a way you agree with. Obviously if you are told when you join a guild that all droppable items received on guild raids are to be returned to the guild if you leave then you should do so if you leave the guild. Do many guilds really have this policy?
Personally i feel that if you have picked up any extremly nice (rare for your guild) items in the last couple of months before leaving a guild you should return them on your way out - but thats more a common courtesy type thing.

Loot is a reward to the guild member, not the guild.
The guild leader should be cagey enough to realize that more nice gear on member = stronger guild when they partcipate.
Unless, you are brought to the understanding beforehand that "Item A is a loan, it belongs to the guild". When it is given to you, people say "Gratz ::Whoever::" not "Gratz ::Whateverguild::".
Karae, Wulfran was being sarcastic.

Cool, with Karae's logic I could do the following:
I could go to my employees and say - "Your reward is working for this company and sharing in it's growth and experiences, so when you quit or retire you need to give me back all the money you earned."
This should really help foster company loyalty then!

when you aquire a job you enter an enforcable contract exchanging your skills and in exchange for money.
when you join an everquest guild you enter into nothing. if the guild rules were to return all loot upon exiting the guild, signing your character over to the guildmaster or fellating them for several days upon leaving, then you can either do that, or not do that and everyone thinks you are a chump, or not join the guild. I've never even heard of a guild that requires you to give loot back if you leave. I guess since CT has more members going in and out of their doors than an AA meeting in Milwaukee, they had to set this particular rule up. It's proabably called The Winnow Clause.
I would never join a guild that thinks my time is as valueless as theirs; and feels that anything I aquire as a member is some sort of communal property. Bunch of fucking whacko marxists.

I'm clueless about Thess? Wake the fuck up, dumbass. Have someone explain it to you since you're clearly too oblivious to realize why I know more about what's going on than 99% of the people reading this board, including you.
Regardless, none of my posts in this thread have had a god damn thing to do with Thess or CT. I have simply stated MY opinion on the subject of no drop loot. I realize that, since you can barely form a coherent sentence, it's asking a lot of you to properly comprehend what I post, but, please try.
Now, you have a choice. You can either post another ignorant and retarded reply, or, you can get that explanation, realize what a fucking moron you are, and come back here a little wiser, a little more humble, and MAYBE with a fucking clue.

Consider that 0.0001% of loot nowadays is droppable, and then don't award droppable loot to the person you know lives off playerauctions and/or has no real commitment to the guild and there isn't a problem.
Maybe communist ideals seem sensible when your guild turnover rate is high enough that you meet new friends every night?

I don't buy the whole comparison of EQ to a job and loot to pay. Some guilds may run like businesses, others like families, and others like armies.
There is a drive in EQ to become the best you can be tm, and to attain that goal, as a guild or an individual, you need the best equipment.
I don't think it is fair to force an individual to give back items acquired while participating in a guild. I do think, however, that as an individual, the right thing to do is to give back the items.
When I retired (again) I gave my character to my guild, as I did the first time. This not only allowed me to come back (with better gear then I previously had) but it also allowed the guild to have a port whore and extra dps when they needed it.
